VIA / Press

“Saving Abel show! VIA, from Minneapolis opened the show at the start of the night. VIA has only been together as a group since April of 2013, but the drummer & bass player have played together for 7 years. One thing I noted when they were on stage was how locked those two were with each other. They have an EP, ‘Acid,’ that they released in July of 2013. J is their singer and rhythm guitarist, Evo, the lead guitar, and Ben is on drums. After the band played their very energetic set for the night, they visited with fans over at the merch table. Such energy to their performance, I dug it! The band got signed to a record label and opened for the group ‘Smile Empty Soul,’ and really, for only being the band they are for under a year, have some massive accomplishments. I ran into a couple of people who came to the show specifically to see that band VIA, not just for Saving Abel, which is saying something. Three Years Hollow posted online that Rochester was moving & unforgett”

“Closets Review = The introduction on this track is mad sick and wicked. I love the guitar play and the killer snare drums. This style of rock is really missing today. This genre of music has died and it is need of revolutionary return. The vocals are pretty good for this style a music. A singer doesn't have to be the best in this genre but must know what melodies and tunes to reach. This track has harmony also. The lyrics of this track are crazy and very introspective. This song could get a crowd going at a summer concert. I could see thousands of rockers bobbing there heads and jumping to this track. This song does have the potential to be good its just hard to place in in the mainstream world of music. This track could really inspire other artist to bring this style of music back o the scene.”

“Closets Review = The song caught my attention right off the bat. The music is full of energy and the singer compliments it well. I really enjoyed the bridge going into the chorus. It made me want to sing along with them. The guitar solo in between the verses fits perfectly and is not overdone. It also differs from the instrumental break you hear in the beginning. The singers voice crescendos over the rifts as they go up the scales and I loved that. I think the song ends on a perfect note and leaves the listener wanting more. The song feels genuine. It has great radio potential.”

“Forget It - “Really loved the beginning, the guitar is awesome and reminds me of Glen Hansard. I absolutely love the mix of the heavier rock added in!! The singer has a great rough, raw, raspy voice that fits this music perfectly! The lyrics are pretty good. This was probably my favorite song I've reviewed so far though! Really put together and something I would download and play again and again!””

“Closets Review = Lyrics!!! Love! "Got your closet opened for all to see." This song is great and is definitely a commercial hit. The music is vocally and instrumentally sound. I like the message of the song. It's catchy and melodic. The singer has a strong and impressive voice and is very convincing that she has her closet open for everyone to see. Great song. The structure is perfect and I can't wait to see the video and the show. Rock on! The guitar is screaming and totally awesome. Everything about it balanced and engaging. The artist is clearly skillful and gives a perfect performance. Rock on!”

“Closets Review = Reminiscent of Nirvana, the group has a good overall arrangement. I do think this could be a hit.”

“Closets Review = I think the rhythm and tempo are good and much like classic rock which is a plus because it can appeal to both older and younger crowds. The vocalist sounds a bit like Alice Cooper which is an attention getter.”

“Forget It - “I loved the chorus. It felt really emotional and powerful. And mixed with the soft and simple guitar in the back it was a really cool effect. And then the song builds up to this heavier guitar and it just added to the effect the song had on me. It reminded my a little bit of the band Live. The more I listened the more I fell in love with it. Your voice and lyrics fit perfectly with the melody. And then it gets soft again at the end. Amazing. Everything just felt right together. Fantastic job. Really. Fantastic.””

“Closets Review = Great song to head bang to. I'm sure this song would do great on the radio. The beat and voice in this song are really good they sing well with the beat they don't get off beat at all the drums are heavily played with makes the song really hardcore, I love it”

“Closets Review = Sounds like I'm at a Gun & Roses concert the tune was right on point with the right vocal pitch. The background music was ambient & very ominous. I can relate to this song overall. It had a great hook. This songs rocks. I just feel like throwing my body in front of a crowd of people as they throw me up & down in the air.”

“Closets Review = Really nice guitar work in the intro. Grabbed my attention right away. The verses are actually really catchy and I like the tone and lyrics. I also enjoy the harmonies during the chorus. Overall, I really enjoyed a good ol' fashioned rock song. I like that the singer dictates the melody and not the instruments. Refreshing.”

“Closets Review = Nice combination of both guitar and drums to set the rhythm in the instrumental. Heavy metal influenced harmonics really accompany the beat and suit the style completely. This song has the potential to go far if it reaches the right audience.”

“Closets Review = This song has an excellent beginning to it. You can actually hear and understand the singer. The tone blends in perfect with the singer's voice. Has very good lead players on it. Was short but good. This artist has the right combination of instruments and voice for this music genre. The song was very good.”

“Closets Review = A heavy feel begins almost instantly. When the singing enters, however, it is melodic, even with added harmonies, which almost seem unexpected here because of the heavy feel to this song. The layers of harmonies in the singing are interesting, a nice contrast to the distorted guitar.”

“Closets Review = A REALLY COOL GUITAR SLAMMING BEAT A TRUE GREAT SONG FOR THE COLD NIGHTS IN HOME ALONE. JUST TURN THE SPEAKERS UP AND TURN THE COOLNESS UP ALL THE WAY PAST 100. THE SINGER IS SO COOL AND EDGY HE BRINGS A GREAT ATTITUDE. ”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = This song has a similar sound to that of bands like You Me At Six, as it has a minor and almost sinister sound in the vocals and heavy guitar riffs. The vocals are quite raw with nice harmonies between the main and backing vocals. This song could find an audience with fans of Metal/Rock music, as it doesn't sound overproduced, so seems more like it comes from a real band than most mainstream Pop music. This would appeal to many Rock radio stations, though the lyrics aren't particularly appropriate for younger listeners.”

“Closets Review = This rock song has a great vibe to it. The guitars are strong, and the drum beat is really driving it forward. It makes you want to jump around! The texture is really thick with the distorted guitars. The low pitch of the song is quite in the style of the rock edge. It builds well towards the end of the song and requires a lot of energy to keep up with it. It would be great live. ”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = I really enjoyed the "punk rock" feel in the introduction. I really, really liked the vocalist in the beginning! He seemed dark and twisted but it was amazing. I think this artist could rank up there with Seether, Hinder, Breaking Benjamin, etc. I would love to see more. I liked the lyrics. It's not a good rock song unless its got to do with sex!”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Bad Review = You're never going to get that over the top metal sound with weak drums. Also, turn down the vocals a bit, or add some effects, they're too clean and poppy right now. Go for a metal approach, instead of an alternative/grunge style. Lane Stanley is dead, unfortunately.”

Very well done sounds professional. Something you would listen to if your having relationship problems.””

The beautiful voice in the background is so wonderful with the rest of the song. I cannot wait to hear more. Great song.””

“Forget It - “Love the guitar at the beginning of this track. Reminded me of "America". The singer has a smooth voice. Definitely an easy listening feel, with a slight edginess. The melody is nice - on the slower side - and the lyrics are understandable and pertinent.””

“Closets Review = Nice intro, great bass and drums. vocals are good, clear, can understand everything he's singing about. reminds me of the band Live. The intro could have been a tad longer but it was all still good. everything mixed well together, lead vocals, back ups and sound.”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = Awesome! I love this type of heavy metal mixed in with the strange sounds of the vocalist. It gives it that old school feeling of 90's rock with a bit of a twist. I gotta hand it to the drummer in this one, he is hitting those things like its the last thing he'll ever do! The guitarist also did an amazing job with great power chords and does a great job harmonizing with the lead singer as well. I love the various sounds that this band is able to produce, it gives it its own personality that worked out very well for them. That singer can really put on a show. He is screaming at the top of his lungs and shows off his true talent. The music runs smoothly along with his voice as your guide. I like it alot, great job guys a 9/10 great soundtrack topped off with a great voice and killer lyrics. I really do see this band rising to the top if they keep it up. Id like to hear more from these guys.”

“Closets Review = The guitarist & drummer work quite well together to create such intensity that I thought that I may end up clinging to the ceiling then the artist stepped to the mic with some for real lyrics; sex is never really free, I'm glad at least he realizes it lol. The energy is out of this world & draws the listener into the song. The lyrics to this song tell something true that many may not want to admit or agree to but the artist is telling the truth. The instrumentation tends to fall into the acid rock genre & the loudness is pretty loud but not so loud that the artist can not be understood. The tempo of this song is good at keeping the listener interested! This track, as hard as it was rocking, & it rocked HARD, did show a lot of professionalism & ended with a very appropriate fade out & I thank the composer for including it, it let me know that the song was ending & I could come down from the ceiling lol. I do feel that this song is radio ready & has hit potential.”

“Closets Review = The tuneful melodic introduction is heavy and hard hitting after the long droning note. The power and drive of the arrangement are well handled by the musicians and lead vocalist. Creatively phrased lyrics and slick verbiage light the vocal track up. The tonality of the singer is full and edgy. The band ROCKS TO DEF! The wild arpeggio and the vocal scream are amazingly performed and executed for high dynamic emotional appeal. The story line is good, but the delivery of the melodic verses suit the arrangement and give the material depth. Attitude and character are the first line emotion that this composition draws to mind. The groove of the ensemble performs savagely in a skillful manner throughout the arrangement. Great production and recording qualities really make this track a hit! There is major potential and future mass appeal for this composition. Very Creative and animated!”

“Closets Review = I dig the harmonies that happen briefly at the beginning of this song. More of that, please! The vocals are really powerful and the voice doesn't sound like every one out there so bonus points for that. The break where everything builds around 2:00 is really brilliant. It makes the song IMHO. The ending is great, how it leaves you hanging and you are just waiting to hear that note bend back up. All in all, a fine piece of work. Keep it up! There is hit potential for this band.”

“Closets Review = The song started out with heavy guitar and full of energy. The voice resembled that of a late 90's band or something similar to Nickelback. The lead vocalist did a good job and it was pleasant to listen to.”

“Closets Review = The intro is great. Very rock and roll. It sounds very grungy and I like this. The vocals are awesome as they also sound quite grungy in a good way. The melody is good and it all works well together. I could imagine this being played on a rock radio show. This song has great energy and really captures my attention well. It is catchy and real at the same time which is not easy to do.”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = He is very good. The harmony and the vocals are on point of the arrangements of all the music and it was really good. You can tell that he has put a lot of effort into his craft and that he has been trying to do this for quite some time. I think that he just needs some real exposure and the belief that he and his band could be stars with their performance. That could sell really well from what I hear from the music!!!”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = Great intro. Love the live feed sound. The guitar is solid and drives the song. Great guitar riffs. The vocal performance is gritty and in your face. The lyrics are clever and fresh. Overall I believe this song is marketable and has an audience. Very well done.”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = This song really comes on with a nice buzz. I love the way that you use the drums here. You really seem kind of angry and crazy at times. You have this Ozzy Osborne sort of feeling that is nice. I feel that you really sing with a lot of harmony. You have wonderful angry tone in this song and it has lots of raw punk energy all over that is nice and interesting with pretty cool drumbeats that feel great throughout.”

“Closets Review = This song have a interesting beat it has me banging my head right along with the music. I like your style in this song and I can tell that you love doing what you do. This is one awesome song and I know that it will be on the radio soon. The lyrics fit well with the head banging style of this music. i love the fact that it is original and different from other music. Keep up the awesome work because I know that some day I will be able to turn my radio on and hear this awesome tune.”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = Really distorted and fuzzed up, this guitar mix offers something really textured that brings a credible vibe to this grungy mix. The drums are equally as powerful with the hard hitting of the snare giving this a punky edge. The vocals have a gritty powerful edge to them, harmonies with intense backing vocals that are just as enraging as the lead vocal mix. Good energy in this track, the texture, saturation to the guitar mix and the drum power all create a very full grunge sound with a hint of west coast Neil Young growling in the vocal mix, great sound.”

Reverbnation - Crowd Review

“Closets Review = The song started off with some heavy guitar feedback, and the riffs that ensued were similarly sludgy sounding and grungy. The beat was energetic and supplied the fervor and the vigor. It had a take no prisoners, pull no punches sort of attitude, and I can get down with that. The guitar, bass, and drums layout was one that was very familiar to me as someone who listens to a lot of rock music. In fact, it is my genre of choice, so this was all territory that I know well.”
