Bio: Arts at the Rives Theater (ART) is a community non-profit in Martinsville, Va., dedicated to preserving the historic Rives Theatre by offering high-quality musical, educational and artistic programming. The group, comprised entirely of volunteers, is devoted to transforming the Rives from a movie theatre into a live-music venue, as well as a community space for education and the arts. The theatre, built in 1932, currently stages two monthly series: * The "First Fridays at the Rives" concert series, which highlights bands of various genres on the first Friday of each month * "Bluegrass At The Rives Concert Series" presented by the Lions Club of Martinsville & Henry County, which brings regional bluegrass acts to the stage on the third Saturday of each month. Other live concerts and programming also take place on an event-by-event basis, and the theatre is available for rent to the public.
