Bio: Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG), holds monthly fourth Saturday concerts in its expansive indoor and outdoor mosaiced environment. Each months features a different theme and showcases much of Philadelphia's diverse pool of local talent. These monthly concerts culminate into a yearly Summer Solstice Festival. Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is a mosaiced folk art environment, gallery space, and nonprofit organization that protects the work of Isaiah Zagar. A renowned muralist, Zagar has created mosaics for over 40 years in Philadelphia. The Magic Gardens, his largest artwork, includes a fully tiled indoor space and a massive outdoor labyrinthine mosaic sculpture garden that spans half a city block on Philadelphia’s famous South Street. Inside, visitors can view Latin American and Asian statues, bicycle wheels, colorful glass bottles, Zagar's hand-made tiles, and thousands of glittering mirrors. The installation pays tribute to Zagar's many artistic influences, along with community and personal experiences. Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens also seeks to educate the public about mosaic, folk, and public art and foster civic engagement, community beautification, and artistic collaboration. Open to visitors daily, PMG is quickly becoming a popular artistic venue, hosting concerts, dance performances, and art openings within the tiled walls year-round.
