Show Details: The Hue - Crawl - NovaRoma The HueCrawlNovaRomaTHE HUE, an instrumental progressive rock quartet, forges a wholly unique brand of electrified music from a diverse palate of influences that run the gamut from jazz to metal, classical and post-rock.As their blistering sound continues to evolve, the band constantly finds new ways to create action-packed songs that tell a story, even without lyrics. From searing metal tunes and rich post-rock numbers to expressive and melodious jazz pieces, a fiery dose of dueling guitars mix with the on-point rhythm section attack to reach explosive peaks.Emerging out of a weekly stint at Chicago's legendary Wise Fools Pub in January 2007, The Hue has played alongside some of the nation's best acts including Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller, The Wood Brothers, Karl Denson, Garaj Mahal, New Monsoon, The Motet, The Breakfast, and members of Umphrey's McGee & The New Deal. For the past two and a half years they've brought their aggressive progressive fusion to venues across the Midwest, making stops at the 2008 and 2009 Summercamp and 10,000 Lakes Festivals along the way.To follow up their debut EP, Unscene (2007), The Hue will release their first full-length album, Beyond Words, in August of 2009. The album, featuring keyboard virtuoso Eric Levy (Garaj Mahal) on one track, is comprised mostly of brand-new material that captures the intensity of the band's live shows while showcasing the strength of the compositions themselves. CRAWL is comprised of composer, and keyboardist extraordinaire Paul Mutzabaugh playing exclusively Wurlitzer in this band, bassist and composer Chris Clemente, and drummer/percussionist Rich Stitzel. Three totally different backgrounds, one ridiculous sounding instrumental trio. This band has super high energy, very deep grooves, and incredible polyrhythmic interaction in an improvisational approach to original, structured compositions.Never has such a succinct and successful fusion of eastern and western music been attempted. And never has a collection of four musicians appeared in so perfect a unison as to achieve it. NOVAROMA appears almost without warning, takes you calmly by the hand and leads you through a world that is different, yet not completely unfamiliar.Novaroma's music is blend of modern rock styles and traditional middle-eastern sounds. The result is a unique sound of distorted guitars and odd-time basslines, rock beats juxtaposed with old world scales, and lyrical themes based on historical themes.

Show Details: 7PM SHOW IS SOLD OUT!!! TRIBUTOSAURUS BECOMES THE BEATLES (VOL 1) // One month, one band -- it's the Tributosaurus formula. From our first night as The Who in August of 2002, the mandate has been simplicity; purity of concept. There has been the occasional Volume II, sometimes delving an entire set deeper into a band's body of work, for the precious few that merit it, and there are some that are so much fun that an occasional redux has to happen. But one band defies our traditional process, because virtually every note they recorded has become iconic. Ever since we started, the question has loomed...how would Tributosaurus attack The Beatles? ****
We have debated this internally for years - how can you possibly choose from the Beatles songbook? If we whittled down to an evening, to 15-20 songs, how does that even come close to capturing the legacy? So we happened on this: Let's do the whole thing. EVERYTHING. You start at the beginning, and you follow it through to the end. We envisioned doing it at the end of the project, for perhaps the final 6 months that this beast would live. Well, the end of the project is nowhere in sight, and we're tired of waiting. So December, now and for years to come, is hereby christened Tributosaurus' Beatles Month. We're going to play the whole Beatles canon, including the singles - all 12 records. We have decided to follow the UK releases, and also draw the singles from Past Masters, Vol. 1 & 2, inserting them chronologically as we go. ****
This December we'll do the first 2 records - Please Please Me & With The Beatles. These are the albums that launched the most popular and influential rock band of all time. (Deal with it, Stones fans.) From the start, the chemistry and energy of Lennon & McCartney stood out, even as they covered other people's songs. And, as we'll all be reminded, the songwriting genius was evident even in its infancy. ****
Join us as Tributosaurus finally hooks the absolute biggest fish in the rock and roll pond. Roll up, roll up for the Mystery Tour!

Show Details: Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk - The Ragbirds Ivan Neville's DumpstaphunkThe Ragbirds"Dumpstaphunk is the best funk band from New Orleans right now."The New York TimesFormed in 2003, Ivan Neville's DUMPSTAPHUNK was initially put together by keyboardist Ivan Neville on a whim in order to perform a solo gig at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Ivan called in cousin Ian Neville (guitar), the double-bass bottom of both Nick Daniels and Tony Hall, and drummer Raymond Webber to round out the show.Named after a song Ivan had recently written, Dumpstaphunk's informal performance became that of immediate legend. The project has since grown from chance side-project into what is now widely considered to be New Orleans' most popular musical export. The band was recently voted 2007's "New Orleans Best Funk Band" by both Offbeat Magazine and Gambit Weekly, and performs at some of the nation's largest music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Voodoo Fest, 10,000 Lakes, and High Sierra.Founders Ivan Neville and Ian Neville (sons of both Aaron Neville and Art Neville respectively), along with Nick Daniels, Tony Hall, and Raymond Webber, were brought up in an atmosphere of sounds that have arguably become the most defining in all of New Orleans music. But don't let the pedigree of lineage from the Meters and Neville Brothers fool you either. Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk now stands on its own as the legitimate torchbearer of all things funky both in New Orleans and beyond with the release of their debut EP, Listen Hear.Led by the energetic and fiery front woman and songwriter Erin Zindle, who skillfully switches between violin, mandolin, banjo, accordion, and percussion, in addition to singing lead vocals (all while dancing!) The RAGBIRDS musical roots are firmly embedded in the soil of rhythm, ancient and new, incorporating Americana, Gypsy, Celtic, and Latin influences with drums from all over the world, mixing African poly-rhythms and Afro-Cuban tumbao, over sometimes rock, hip-hop or reggae style drum-kit, all designed to get people both listening and up and dancing! In live performances the band incorporates variations on traditional African drum pieces, each member trading their instrument for a nearby hand drums. The band has a strong belief in the lyricism of poetry and positive music, and the power of dance-able rhythm.

Show Details: Nathan Angelo - Micah Dalton - Claire Stahlecker Nathan AngeloMicah DaltonClaire StahleckerA recent implant to the Atlanta area, NATHAN ANGELO has begun to put his mark firmly on the southeast. He has been touring a remarkable 150+ shows per year in clubs up-and-down the coast. Propelled by remarkable melodies and the groove-tinged rhythm section, an homage to Nathan's early influences of Motown artists such as Jackson 5 and Ray Charles, "Through Playing Me", his first album release, evolves as a refreshing and accomplished debut from a very promising new artist."He may sound like an earthier, cleverer Ben Harper, but musically MICAH DALTON suggests mid-'80s Prince in the way he defiantly straddles so many styles, requiring an enormous musical arsenal to get his point across. These juxtapositions of sounds and style rarely feel forced or even deliberate, courtesy of Dalton's soulful vocals and incisive songwriting."- PASTE MAGAZINEYou may hear familiar elements in newcomer CLAIRE STAHLECKER's music, but it doesn't take long to realize the music is hers alone. The Chicago singer/songwriter's audience is growing quickly as she hits a sweet spot with her soul-infused urban folk tales of life and love.Beginning with a thoughtful acoustic guitar canvas, Claire writes anddelivers her songs like a seasoned old soul, embodying the spirit of classicblues and jazz artists while incorporating the influence of contemporaries like India Arie, Sara Bareilles and Dave Barnes.
