Bio: First Saturday Arts Market is Houston's only monthly outdoor fine arts event. Featuring local and regional artists whose offerings include original paintings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, wood and metal arts, ceramics and fiber arts. The arts market is located in the Heights on 19th Street at Lawrence on the Wind Water Gallery parking lot. Founded in March 2004, the First Saturday Arts Market has proven there is room among the thriving art galleries in Houston for a monthly arts market. Patrons strolling among 40 canopied tents will find gigantic abstract paintings to hand cut stainless steel flowers, original hand-cast silversmith pendants and hand carved mesquite statues. Virtually every art medium and style is represented monthly from artists living in Houston, Austin, Brenham and occasionally from Louisiana. "The First Saturday Arts Market has a magic ingredient that's hard to describe. It's like an art gallery, music festival, and a day in the park all combined into one. It has such a relaxed atmosphere that it's hard to tell the patrons from the vendors. I can't think of any other venue in Houston with such an entertaining and festive ambiance that is accessible free from the street." Said Dennis C Fitzgerald, a bay area photographer that attends the market frequently. First Saturday Arts Market is located on the parking lot of Wind Water Gallery at 548 W. 19th Street. Each month established and emerging musicians are featured throughout the day, visit the website for the latest on times and a complete roster of participating artists. Open year round on the first Saturday of each month Oct - May, hours 11am to 6pm June - Sept, hours 6pm to 10pm www.FirstSaturdayArtsMarket.com
