Bio: The venue was opened in 1916 as The Capitol Theatre. The theatre featured leather furnishings and a screen made of gold fiber. Admission was fifteen cents. The Capitol Theatre operated until 1976 after which time it fell into disrepair. Renovated and reopened in 2006 as The Cox Capitol Theatre, it has become an entertainment cornerstone and in fact, the premier concert venue in middle Georgia. Gov’t Mule, Mother’s Finest, Dirty Guv’nahs, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Blackberry Smoke, Wet Willie, Drive By Truckers, Lucinda Williams, Perpetual Groove, The Wailers, Travis Tritt, and The Blues Brothers are just a few of the artists who have graced our stage. In addition to numerous touring artists, The Cox Capitol Theatre has hosted numerous local and regional festivals including GABBAfest, MaGa, Weaver’s Weekend and the Bragg Jam Concert Crawl. The Cox Capitol Theatre offers a robust presence of stage, production, sound, lighting and video capabilities to match the passions and requirements of our performers. Additionally, we offer a full complement of catering, decorating, and event planning services to suit your needs.
