Beacon River Front Park, Beacon, NY, US
Bio: Local 845 will present its second annual Riverfest outdoor music concert in the city’s Riverfront Park beginning at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 25, 2011. This year’s line-up of musical artists include: 11-piece steampunk mambo band, Gato Loco; one-name moniker and roots collective, Milton; Jack Grace Band, featuring the Broken Mariachi Horns; Hip Hop-Spoken Word project, Readnex Poetry Squad; and The Tao Seeger Band. Joining these all-stars on Riverfest’s mainstage are young musicians (age 12 – 14) from the spring session of Local 845’s Rock Band Boot Camp. For the first time this year, leading up to the live outdoor concert, Local 845 has launched “Beacon Riverfest Art Guitars” public art installation and auction. More than Nearly 50 one-of-a-kind “electric guitars” have been designed and created out of wood by local Beacon artists, including local school kids, and will be installed and publicly displayed throughout the city beginning May 20. On Saturday, June 18, a week before Riverfest, the artwork will be auctioned at the Marion Royael Gallery at 460 Main Street – proceeds from the auction will be split evenly between the artists and Beacon Riverfest. In collaboration with Beacon's Department of Recreation, Local 845 will present a band of five young musicians from the spring session of Rock Band Boot Camp. Having prepared and rehearsed for eight weeks, Boot Camp will perform as part of the line-up on Riverfest’s mainstage.
