Bio: Barnsley Folk and Acoustic Night runs every Monday night (Except Bank Holidays) in the Barnsley Trades Club lounge and is run by Barnsley Folk Club. From 8pm there'a a trad music session and from 8.45 singers and musicians - everyone welcome to come and perform or listen. Every few weeks we have a guest night (2 x 45 min slots) or a featured artist (a 30 min slot). Occasionally we'll put on a formal concert. We have just introduced Slow Music Sessions for beginners, every other week from 8-9pm (beginners are still welcome at the normal sessions) We believe folk music should be open to everyone. We don't have a formal admission fee - the hat (literally) gets passed around and contributions of £1 are suggested for a singers night, £4 for a guest night, or whatever you can afford. There is only a fixed price for the occasional formal concerts (once or twice a year, in a bigger venue), which we aim to keep as low as possible. We work on a not for profit basis. All money raised goes towards paying for guests. Bookings Policy - Please be aware that as an organisation run by volunteers, we don't have the resource to reply to booking enquries. The best way to get noticed by our bookings secretary is to come over and do a floor spot on a Monday night.
