Bio: Want to play a gig at Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room? Here are a few answers to some quick questions you may have… Who We Are: Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room is a local coffee & Tea café and approximately seats 55-60 guests. We offer the best fresh roasted coffee and high quality teas. We also carry the finest selection of café cuisine all of which are house-made foods. We host weekly weekend music nights and special events for holidays, customers, and the community. Philosophy: Here at Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room our goal is to create an atmosphere where customers are able to LISTEN TO ORIGINAL UN-PLUGGED MUSIC...without having to raise their own voices or shout at one another across the table while musicians play. We are the perfect corner place to gather local support and try out new music! Unlike most venues that host performances Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room is not a bar. We also do not have a cover charge. This also means until further notice that Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room does not pay to book artists and do not charge a fee to artists that would like to book a show. Most of our evening traffic comes to drink, enjoy a few small plates, and hear a showcased performer and/or take part in special events. Customers here turn into an artist’s audience and really look forward to hearing their music. Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room hopes that an artist’s fans will also become customers with them on their night out. This generates the flow between a full house and a night gone well for both the artist and Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room. If you have a digital press kit, a link to your web presence and/or a track, definitely provide this information too. These tools will only be used in the marketing of your upcoming show here at Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room via our website, Facebook page, interior of café and sometimes local newspaper. Most of the artists who play here have websites or a page in Facebook, ReverbNation, Bandcamp or a similar musician’s portal. If you don’t have a web site (you really SHOULD have a web site...).The acts that promote themselves and their show do well here. They pack the house and everyone has a good time. They make good tip money and sell merchandise and CDs. Our suggestion is the sooner the materials are sent to us the longer we can promote your show through our promotional tools. Since Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room is a smaller venue there is no requirement for a sound system. If you would like to bring an amp or small sound system you are welcome to decide. Please be aware that Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room does not provide any sound equipment. You are also responsible for all of your equipment and Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room will not be held liable for any damages or lost equipment/materials brought in. Many artists haven chosen to play unplugged and their sound travels well around the store. We ask that you come prepared the night of a performance. If you would like to come in a few days before and get a feel for things, artists are more than welcome. If artists usually do a sound check or want to do one we suggest they arrive early on the evening of their performance. Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room will provide the point of contact with a check –in call to confirm artists schedule booking. We allow and encourage the use of a tip jar as well as a small display for your merchandise from any artist. This also encourages our customers and your fans to spend a little. If you do not have a tip jar Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room will have one for performing artists if they’d like to borrow. Many Artists have done terrifically well on nights hosting a full house. We ask that a show cover 90 minutes or more, with a short break in the middle. A typical summer show starts at 7:00pm and ends between 9:30pm and 10:00pm. In the winter we often start the shows at 6:30pm, when the sun begins to set around 6:00pm! Once an artist has been booked you will be given a definite time that you can print on any promotional material. For solo artists that are just beginning and may only have limited amount of music we usually pair you with another artist to play throughout the whole evening. Two performers can use the same tip jar and spilt the jar at the end of the night or clear the jar when their performances I over. The artists’ choice must be said before the start of the night to one of the owners. When we book two performers in one evening, especially when the performers are solo singer songwriters there have been great results. These types of bookings bring two sets of listeners together. These are perfect opportunities for artists to showcase their talent and gain new listeners who might not have ever known about them. If a group is larger we most often only book one group for the evening. Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea Room does not ask artists to play 90 minutes of cocktail standards and covers. A majority of artists have played acoustic; generating genres in to folk and indie pop. Our house does not carry well for full rock sounds. Think more un-plugged. We love all kinds of music and have a soft heart for musicians who are trying to create their own style and mix original sounds. This is where artists can really showcase who they are.
Status: Summer is just about here! We have open dates for June, July, and August. Also an Open-Mic night on June 15th.
