UJ goes on at 3pm JEFFERSON PARK JUBILEE Saturday, September 14 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Amphitheater Outdoor movie 7:00 - 10:00 pm ------------------------------------------------- Presented by the Beacon Hill Merchants Association, Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Jefferson Advisory Council. Sponsors include ROCKIT Community Arts, the Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival Committee, the Jefferson Park Alliance, the Jefferson Advisory Council, and many local businesses. ------------------------------------------------- The Jefferson Park Jubilee returns this year to celebrate the newly rebuilt crown jewel of Beacon Hill and Seattle’s Park system. Saturday, September 14 from 1 pm to 7 pm will be an afternoon of music, art, food and fun. The event includes family-friendly activities, food and craft vendors, performance and live music in the Jefferson Park amphitheater. Take a tour of the Beacon Food Forest, fly a kite, participate in traditional park games to recreate historical Japanese picnics, check out the views, and enjoy the many park facilities throughout the day. The Jubilee will be followed by an outdoor movie screening presented by the Jefferson Advisory Council. Both events will be free and open to the public and centered around the stage in the amphitheater in the northwest corner of the park. Jefferson Park is located on Beacon Hill in Seattle’s south end at 3801 Beacon Ave. S. Seattle, WA 98108. The park is easily accessible by multiple modes of transportation including light rail, bus, and bicycle, and is centrally located near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 90. Attendees are encouraged to use alternate transportation to alleviate traffic and parking congestion near the park. The Jefferson Park Jubilee is organized by a dedicated team of park supporters in coordination with Seattle Parks and Recreation. Join us for an after-work happy hour event in support of your local food bank! Enjoy 3 live bands (Urban Jellyfish, Madness Blooms and Vervex), food provided by Upper Crust Catering, Cameron Catering and Nollie’s Cafe, beer provided by Populuxe Brewing and wine provided by SOZO Wines! In addition, Rex – a talented local photographer who takes stunning photos of homelessness in Seattle will have some of his work on display. Admission is $12 at the door or $10 if you bring 2 cans of food to donate (for the ICS food bank). H'orderves ("bites") and entertainment are included in that cost. Beer and wine will be available at our cash bar. A raffle with prizes worth over $550 from local businesses will also be held! The Immanuel Community Services Food Bank was able to provide 80 tons of donated food to 4,676 individuals and 2,474 families last year alone! The event will ensure ICS can continue these services into the next year.

2nd Friday Art Rock (2FAR) has been pairing artists and musicians and letting creativity take over since April, 2009. On Friday, April 12, 2013, at 8:00pm come to Bar N9NE for a celebratory and freestyle 2FAR event featuring Seattle band Urban Jellyfish and Port Angeles artist Marjorie Newberg. Urban Jellyfish is an extremely unique and creative rock band. "Not afraid to fail," this five-piece ensemble uses rock, soul singing, blues, and alternative sounds to create melodies that resemble a blend of the bands Nirvana and Morphine. They return to Port Angeles after a triumphant show at 'Alle Stage. Preview their music at http://urbanjellyfishband.com. Artist Marjorie Newberg is a life-long artist who really got into painting when she was 21. At April's 2FAR, Marjorie will be show that face-painting is not just for kids. She hopes that everyone will just let loose and have fun with it! Marjorie will also have some paintings on display and for sale. Kick start the Second Weekend Art Event in Port Angeles by coming to Bar N9NE (229 West 1st Street, Port Angeles) for drinks, food, music, art, and great times on Friday, April 12. Urban Jellyfish and Marjorie Newberg will get the 2FAR dance-party going at 8:00pm. The $3 cover charge will help support the musicians and artist.
