Uncommon Sound was started as a outlet for the band's owner and founder Aloysius Ballard to sharpen his skills by performing a vast variety of tunes. Being in random bands growing up his entire life he noticed that most bands ended up being just a stiff carbon copy of what they found "worked". Always wanting to stretch himself to higher heights and deeper depths, Ballard finally got the nerve to start his own band. He called upon his long time friend Telvis Coleman (still with the band today) to help out on keys and asked a few of his other musician friends. The first gig they performed had the entire coast buzzing wanting more. Due to Hurricane Katrina things were placed on hold with the band. Some of the band members had to relocate and drop out of playing altogether due to loosing all of their possessions in the storm. Now Uncommon Sound is back and with some new faces making the same great music that it has always been known for. Current band members include: Aloysius "Lo" Ballard - Bass, Telvis Coleman - Keys/Synths, John Brown - Lead Vocals, Cerod Butler - Drums/Percussion, Jess Hilton - Lead Guitar.
