"One of the best and most original bands of the U.S. underground metal scene"
"KUKULCAN" LP (Indie, 2013) REVIEW -Rocket: American progressive metal act TOTAL ECLIPSE are led by vocalist Andy Dracons Giardina and have returned in 2013 with a self released full length album entitled “Kukulcan”, an homage to the Supreme God of light of the Mayans,(Kukulcan/)Quetzalcoatl”...The album kicks off with the hard hitting “Avenger”, followed by “Deluge of Fire” and the pummeling “Resolution”. The listener will certainly hear the influences of Ronnie James Dio, along with Superjoint Ritual, W.A.S.P., and Cradle of Filth. My favorite songs are “Rise Of The Oppressor”, “State of Repossession” and the title track “Kukulcan”, and any fan of thrashing progressive music will want to pickup a copy of “Kukulcan”, more than being totally ambitious, it shows Total Eclipse is back and more fierce than ever.
“AMAZON.COM.DE - Review of our 1st LP "ASHES OF EDEN", Rated as ONE OF THE BEST METAL ALBUMS ON THEIR SITE”
"SPELLCASTER" LP (Indie 2009) Review voted 'Album of the Month' by Hard'nheavy.it- "one of the formations most interesting scene true metal U.S. had given birth in recent years, during most brilliant of his business, seemed really launched toward "success" and recognition of mass, thanks to the publication of a great demo of the fantastic debut as "Guardians of Metal", which, thanks to an explosive mix sound full of references to the golden age of stage Us Metal '80ies early, had allowed our clients to attract, not only the attention of the media and insiders, but, above all, to be able to get the full support of the charismatic Uwe Lulis former ax historians Grave Digger © and renowned producer of international renown...has given shape, but above substance, to this latest step of the music combo, titled very prophetic "Spellcaster", marketed once again and totally self-financed, masterfully linking the power of thundering heavy metal array of classic U.S. style..."
"DELUGE OF FIRE"(Kukulcan LP, Indie 2013) SONG REVIEW- "This song is very fast. The drums and guitar are phenomenal. The singing is amazing too. I could listen to this music all day. The lyrics are great and they fit the song perfectly. The hook is great and it really does get you hooked. This song is perfection."
““SPELLCASTER” LP(Indie,2009) Review (9/10 rating) on METALMARE.COM by Theodosis Miras from Secret Port Records (GREECE)-:"TOTAL ECLIPSE is an all time epical heavy metal band the European style, this is their third release after a independent self released mini cd and a full album through limb music, they come back with a second full cd released by the band. The guys are the guardians of European style heavy metal in the states the same way like gothic knights do.The music is great and epical the voice of andy giardina is fresh and lyrical and I really like the bits of classical themes on the guitar playing here and there. The band is a guarantee for pure and true epic power metal music and since they got guts to release all by themselves such great and romantic music against all trends ,you should give them a chance!bravo to the band!!!"”
"DELUGE OF FIRE"('Kukulcan LP, Indie 2013) SONG REVIEW- "The lead tremolo picked guitar solo in this was on par with the likes of Glenn Tipton and KK Downing of Judas priest, the vocalist hits amazing high air raid siren type notes similar to Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, the chorus with open power chords played where the tempo drop starts and the vocalist hits the high falsettos sounds really great together,I think this band needs immediate commercial exposure, with a legitimate amount of exposure this band would definitely see some success, your sound is similar to a more modern sounding Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, the polyrythm sections were even quite similar to Painkiller Era Judas priest poly Rhythms,I liked the solo and other leads I heard so I cant really make a suggestion to play something different,as everything sounded great together. As a fan of thrash, death, black, and progressive metal I can say this band will for sure make a name for itself if given a chance
"STATE OF REPOSSESSION" Song review("Kukulcan" LP, Indie 2013)- -"This song pumps me up to do any thing! Wow the melody. Tone colour. And duration are finely tuned to make the song the song. This song deserves an award"
"SPELLCASTER" LP (Indie, 2009) REVIEW FROM SEA OF TRANQUILITY (By Scott Ward) Vote: 3.5/5 stars Scott: Total Eclipse decided to enter the ranks from their home in San Francisco. With more than a passing nod to the heavy metal gods, this band led by the piercing vocals of Andy Giardina and the dual guitar attack of brothers Erik and Chris Cameron manage to capture both the spirit and the classic feel of their heroes. Total Eclipse delivers a slice of metal that will have you reaching for your Broadsword and looking for the dragon to slay! They are also not afraid to deal with spirituality in their lyrics. While trying to pinpoint a way to describe(Andy's) voice, I finally decided to give up and just say that it is something that will grow on you much in the way Geddy Lee of Rush does as he uses his vocal ability to go where no one has before!
"SPELLCASTER" LP(Indie, 2009) Review from THE METAL-OBSERVER (By Ralf Henn) Vote: 9/10 -English Translation from the German- Ralf: TOTAL ECLIPSE published their mini-CD "Storm Warning" a landmark of the epic US-Metals. Then the debut album following afterwards „Ashes Of of Eden" appeared on the giant Limb Music-Label...Frontman Andrea D. Giardina animated T. ECLIPSE again with a new Line-Up and brings out the aforesaid album now, finally, indeed, with moved song order and the new title "Spellcaster". And this is exactly the entire album which I would have expected at that time after the mini-CD. Great US-Metal with a lot of "smoking Guitars and screaming Vocals"!
"Guardians of Metal" EP Review- " If these guys are the guardians of metal then I think we have true champions!"
"ODE TO ODIN"(feat. Andy Dracons Giardina on lyrics/vox)Song Review (Pandemic- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie, 2006)- "Got a great Metallica feeling the beginning, definitely my kind of genre. I absolutely love the guitar rhythms and the screaming. Major kudo points on the screaming, the singer has a Iron Maiden sounding tone with screams of a death metal band so you guys are already really rad in my book."
"SPELLCASTER" LP (Indie 2009) REVIEW by Rocket Cody The resurrected TOTAL ECLIPSE – after a 4-year hiatus from the scene, is smoking hot on all eight songs featured here, namely “Hell On Earth”, which has Giardina singing: “The unspoken truth rears its head, Now you’re looking at yourself, A doomsday reflection of eternal wrath.” The blazing guitar shred and soaring vocals on Spellcaster will indeed cast a spell on its listener. “Storm Warning” showcases Giardina’s powerful singing skills that definitely falls in the range of early Bruce Dickinson and former Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, as he belts out the following ominous lyrics: “The voices of their dead are carried, On the wind that blows, And now they’ve returned for your soul.” With influences ranging from Iron Maiden to Ronnie James Dio, the band is clearly a throwback to what made metal so beloved in the first place: cool Medieval imagery and soaring vocal cries.
"STATE OF REPOSSESSION" song review("Kukulcan" LP, Indie 2013)- -"As a die hard metal fan, this is sweet. man the vocals, he can really scream and sing the right way as a metal vocalist. The guitars, my god they know how to shred! And the drums are very well timed with everything else. Im really liking this! The song structure is very well written. Nice job!"
“PANDEMIC-"infecting the world" LP(Indie 2006/07)feat. andy D. Giardina of TOTAL ECLIPSE on vox- Review "Pandemic is a four piece progressive/thrash metal project from usa. Four guys four talents that delivers thrash the usa way with semi fast and very technical way. The vocalist of TOTAL ECLIPSE mister andy giardina is the captain of the microphone and once more he delivers a unique and outstanding performance on vocals. The tracks ,10 of them are nice and the song writing is both epical plus with social messages in between.a very good value for money choice for prog/thrashers!!!"(rate:8/10)”
"STATE OF REPOSSESSION" song Review('Kukulcan LP, Indie 2013)- "The song sounds like a rock anthem type of song and I'm sure thats what it is! The lyrics are fine from the start, as the pitch increases...The tune is good, it was probably done with good pleasure! The melody is fine but that is only because this is a rock song. The rock song is pretty good, i can compare it to ACDC. The phrases that the singer uses is good, its very descriptive because near the end of the song i can now hear and understand the artist. I would give this song an 7/10, if it had a bit better lyrics at the beginning i would have given it a 9/10!"
"ODE TO ODIN" Song Review (feat. Andy Dracons Giardina on lyrics/vox (Pandemic- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie, 2006) -"HERE WE GO! This is the type of music I've wanted you guys to play. I love this so much! Best track so far! I take back when I said that about an earlier track. I can rock out to anything with this music. I can do work, drive, anything to this. I give big thumbs up to the vocalist, and the guitarist(s) on this song. You guys did a great job in producing a wonderful and brootal track!"
"SPELLCASTER" ('Spellcaster' LP Indie, 2009) SONG REVIEW: " This song has a lot of fast sounds that really give it so much difference among other rock songs. What I like that most is that every instrument on the song has a chance to showcase its skill on the melody. I think that is really wonderful that the writter made it that way. I love that the lead singer is giving all of the muscians a chance to shine along with him. This is a very groovy song. I love it."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina on vox of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- "The beginning of this song is just awesome. It has a great intro with a great instrumental. The guitar during the intro is just awesome. It sounds amazing. Once the intro ends, it gets even better. The song just sounds incredibly good. I love the fast pace. The singers voice is pretty easy to understand, much easier to understand than most music of this genre. This song could definitely hit it big soon. I have chose to give this song a 9 because it is just that good."
"STATE OF REPOSSESSION" ('Kukulcan' LP, Indie, 2013)Song Review- "this is a heavy metal song with real umph. the orchestration is complicated and played quite well. those speed metal drums are fast and i like the scream o dude's vocals.i really like the higher pitch singing the verses. he has a great octave and high notes are clear."
"SPELLCASTER" LP (Indie, 2009) REVIEW on Angelfire.com (by KIT) KIT: the music on ‘Spellcaster’ put the “power” in power metal, with few if any keyboards and a savage twin guitar attack, courtesy of skilled axemasters Erik Cameron and Chris Cameron...fretboard gymnastics at a high level of technicality, yet with melodies that remain surprisingly accessible. From a songwriting standpoint, Total Eclipse strived for complexity in a way that many U.S. power metal bands did in those days, sorta taking cues from Arch-era Fates Warning with all the twists and turns in the music. Indeed, 3 songs on ‘Spellcaster’ top the 9-minute mark.and best of all, this ‘Spellcaster’ CD includes an early version of the song “Storm warning”, which really is a superlative example of top-shelf U.S. power metal. That song rules. On the strength of ‘Spellcaster’, I’ll cross my fingers that perhaps the fates will smile on Giardina...
"Deluge of Fire" Song Review ("Kukulcan" LP, Indie, 2013)- "Now this is a rock song intro, I love the guitar on this song. The speed of the guitar playing in the beginning makes me want to play my air guitar or bust out my guitar hero game. I like the singer as well, he has a unique voice and delivers the lyrics in a powerful manner. The music breaks and guitar solos are awesome. This song is well put together, it sounds like a future hit.
"DELUGE OF FIRE"(Kukulcan LP, Indie 2013)SONG REVIEW- "The stunning of a guitar solo starting off the song with intense and awesome beats of the tones. A screaming male vocalist and singing on the top of his lungs. The drums banging and running to the beat of the noise. A song to rock out to and electro guitar playing real fast pace".
"STORM WARNING" ('Ashes of Eden' LP, Limb Music, 2002/03) SONG REVIEW- "The first impression is absolutely rock solid about this song, and through that impressive start, the audience can get attached to the song for sure. The dynamic and engaging approach doesn't take a step back later on either, but despite that,I would bring in the vocals much sooner. It's worth waiting for the singer's performance for sure, as he doesn't just add a counterbalance to the rough and raw instrumental accompaniment, but also brings the experience to a full circle. The more engaging the accompaniment becomes, the more impressive the singer's part sounds on top of it, and with the slightly retro feeling that comes with the stylish and original concept of the song, just makes things even better. The singer's performance makes the best out of the lyrics, which happens to be a simple but catchy element in the concept. The contrast and the balance works quite well in this song..."
"STORM WARNING" ('Ashes of Eden' LP, Limb Music, 2002/03) SONG REVIEW- " I love this rock song, it is so catchy and the rhythm and the beat just fit perfectly. I could listen to this song all day without getting bored. The lyrics for this song go well with the tune. the words in the song are so unique, the drum solo in the middle of the song is so good the drummer ROCKS!!!! overall this song is amazing I would definitely give this song a 10/10. To all the people out there they should listen to this song and I bet they will get addicted."
"Deluge of Fire" Song review ("Kukulcan" LP, Indie 2013)- "that introduction was amazing. who ever was playing the guitar was great. it had me pumped from the very begin. the drums was also great. i had trouble hearing the vocalic in the begin but other then that he was good too. great job. keep the good work going.
"SPELLCASTER" ('Spellcaster' LP Indie, 2009) SONG REVIEW: "Alright! Now this is what Im talking about! What a lively jam session! This is music that can truly be appreciated in every form possible. This singer knows to be catchy with his tune. His music is just so edgy that it makes you wanna get out of your sit. Its a song with a twist for awesome beats. Also, the singer is talented within his voice range. This is music that can go far in the scene. I really love the authentic sound to this song. This is music with a real twist! Awesome music!"
"STORM WARNING" ('Ashes of Eden' LP, Limb Music, 2002/03) SONG REVIEW- " Ill start by saying the intensity in the music in the beginning of the song is great it shows the passion of the artist although it does seem a little drawn out. The religion is great not too much not too little. The vocalists is incredibly talented as are the musicians the melody and lyrics are great but they dont seem to be too original. This so is creative intriguing and very well executed."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina on vox of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- "the introduction alludes me to think this is going to be a rock song. the drums when they come in are amazing and I think the guitar player really knows what he is doing. the scremo is just wonderful."
"SPELLCASTER" LP (Indie 2009)REVIEW FROM METAL TO INFINITY(BELGIUM) VOTE: 96/100 Pts STEFAN: Defenders of classic minded US Metal in the vein of Held Under, Wind Wraith, Zandelle, Miles Beyond, Gothic Knights or Immortal Avenger... watch out very closefully to what I'd like to tell you right now about a band, hailing from The Bay Area of California, named Total Eclipse!...A full length album entitled ''Ashes Of Eden'' saw daylight and I was a witness of their second assault and yeah - I was still hooked on the band's way of Metal! Great response from all over the world... 2007 and the follow up to ''Ashes Of Eden'' came finally out by the title of ''Spellcaster''-and I'm so damn thrilled about the end result, I hardly can't explain how beautiful this effort really is. Real unique vocal use of Italian frontman Andy Giardina takes the band to a higher level straight on - this guys has something special deep within his voice...
"STORM WARNING" ('Ashes of Eden' LP, Limb Music, 2002/03) SONG REVIEW- "I'm liking this track from just the first five seconds of the introduction that I've heard. I love it! There is a massive guitar solo a minute in. All of the musical instruments, such as the Guitars (Lead and Rhythm), bass, and drums all work so well together. It's fabulous. The pitch of each instruments work together. Even the vocals work really well with the pitch of the instruments."
"STORM WARNING" ('Ashes of Eden' LP, Limb Music, 2002/03)SONG REVIEW- "I like the intro. Has a strong rush and Iron Madden feel to it. I like the intro and guitar tone. The finger tapping doesn't take from or detract from the rest of the song. I don't hear metal singers who go really melodic. It's also not just an exercise in speed. It's very welcoming. There's a fantasy element to this that I'm very much so digging. This is heavy in ways I don't hear in modern metal exception being steel panther. You guys rock as a band. I can hear the effort and thought put into the whole thing. It's put together very well. I'm gonna start recommending you guys to people."
"SPELLCASTER" ('Spellcaster' LP Indie, 2009) SONG REVIEW: "I think this song was well organized. It had a good chorus. had a good performance and i think it could make it big. The song sounded good no feedback or nothing. Its was well balanced. very engaging song. Had strong vocals."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina on vox of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- -"There is no question that this artist has talent, as even though he is able to scream and keep his notes at the same time, I can still understand what he is saying, and that is hard to do with this type of music, and the drummers and the electric guitars were awesome as well"
"SPELLCASTER" ('Spellcaster' LP Indie, 2009) SONG REVIEW: "Intro was extremely well played and eased you into the song,no complaints.Instruments used were played with a great deal of quality, drums especially were amazing. The guitar riffs complimented the tone of the song very well. The vocals throughout were of a high standard and worked perfectly with the song. All together I have no complaints,I really enjoyed it.I like the heaviness of the song, reminds me almost of iron maiden but more modern."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina on vox of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- "Oh man, this song really gets me going. It feels like a blushing summer swell has graced my ears, and the vocalist really has their technique down to a T. I feel this song is underated and should be appreciated more than it is. The tempo was very well paced, and the bass had a very groovy feel to it."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina on vox of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- "The guitar opening the song gives off a good vibe with the whole bass. The drums make a good effect, it feels as if I'm entering a rock concert. The whole melody gives me the feeling off being in a forest at first but then comes the crescendo of the loud beating drum, and strumming of guitar. Then the screamo settles in, many people would love the lyrics to screamo as it comes to a inner feeling of your dark side."
"ANOINTING THE FLESH"-PANDEMIC- "Infecting the World" LP, Indie 2006- (Thrash/Power/Metal side-project Feat Andy D.Giardina of TOTAL ECLIPSE) REVIEW- "I like how it starts off so soft and slow its so relaxing. I want to hear more songs like this. Then it gets you in the jam head banging jam. I love this kind of music so much. I want to buy this bands album. There's alot of different elements in this song there all great."
“Interview with Andy Dracons Giardina about the SPELLCASTER LP (Indie,2009)- MettleAngel: Your vocals are very unique, and difficult to ascribe. You have an original pitch. With Pandemic, you also employ some death growls, which is different. Andy: I also like the quality of Dani Filth, and some of the more harsh vocalists. Metal needs that hard edge, some groove, and pure melodic attributes. I try to contribute all aspects with my singing. The new songs for Total Eclipse will have a variety of vocal arrangements, and I'll play all the guitar parts. MettleAngel: The songs on Spellcaster and The Guardians Demo tend to be very long, and involved, but never dull, or daunting. Your lyrics are very spiritual, and in depth, as well... Andy: The songs are evolving, so we'll see. I will sing the words with whatever voice mirrors the music. I take great care with creating all aspects of my music. I almost go into a meditative trance before writing the music and lyrics...”
"DELUGE OF FIRE"(Kukulcan LP, Indie 2013) SONG REVIEW- "I love the guitar solo introduction, then as it gets more intense the drums come in mking it perfect head banging music. Vocals go well with the heavy metal sound. I like the song, can imagine rocking out to this in my bedroom or at a venue".
"Deluge of Fire" song review ("Kukulcan" LP, Indie 2013) Yes I finally get to rate a metal song I'm so excited! Ok so to start I already love this song and I mean I love this song a lot! The Best part of this song to me was the screaming. I normally don't know like this screaming type of music but this song made might just make me change my mind... I loved the vocals obviously and I fell in love with the guitar. The sound of it just made the song a thousand times better. The drums were outstanding as we'll. they provided so much support to the song throughout the whole song. The lyrics were clean and original do there was definitely nothing wrong there. This song has a lot of potential. It may make the shelves at big retailers and also iTunes. I hope to hear this song again and I hope to hear it somewhere bigger than a rating website. Great quality song guys it takes true talent to create a piece of art like this.
“ZERO MAG-TOTAL ECLIPSE & PANDEMIC featured in the top 10 playlist of KSJS 90.5 FM (Month of April- May 2008)..”
“Interview with Andy Dracons Giardina on PANDEMIC (Thrash/power metal side-project, 2006-2007) and the new CD "Infecting the World"(Indie-2009)- Rocket: Pandemic is a Sonoma County, California based metal band that I stumbled upon while covering a show for HOSTILITY last year. Their style is a combination of the more traditional Iron Maiden heavy metal, mixed up with some of the thrash and melodic death metal. Andy: I completely agree that it's hard to find vocalists with an original stamp out there, but I believe that everyone has the ability to "find their own voice," literally, while at the same time incorporating one or more particular styles without having to become a total clone. The main problem, I think, is that noone takes singing as seriously as a guitarist or drummer take their instrument, and maybe that is because singers are usually more volatile. I find that a good way to stick outside convention is to learn as many different styles of singing as possible...”
“Interview with Andy Dracons Giardina about the "Ashes of Eden" LP (Limb Music, 2002/03) Andy- Sept 11th, 2001 was the fourth day of vocals during the recording (it took the record label a year and a half to release the album) and it only gave more impetus to the vocals. I'm sure you can hear it on the album, that all the emotion and the frustration are there. There is also an element of prophecy pervading the album, which I would do well to call a concept album, although that was not our original intention. Believe it or not, it is clear to us now that the album is all about the events of Sept 11th, its aftermath, and the unfolding events of the present day and the near future. I wrote in fact the lyrics about 8 months before Sept 11th. I know it sounds crazy, but we had a similar experience with (Spellcaster)...”
"Spellcaster" LP Review- This is a must own masterpiece of Classic Metal, produced by Uwe Lulis, originally known - as Hell On Earth. This re-issue is professionally done, and includes the rough demo version for -Ashes Of Eden. The music is above what is to be expected, and never below what one will appreciate. The 2000 Guardians Of Metal Demo received very favorable reviews, and established Total Eclipse as a worthy contender for the new millennium, along with Onward, Destiny's End, Jacob's Dream, and their ilk. Finally seeing the light of day, after several evolutions, this originally intended debut album, still holds up today as a truly genius metal storm warning; frozen in time. The songs are very detailed, enduring, and involved, some clocking in over nine minutes. They are not progressive, in the sense of the meaning today.Think of the grandiose epics by Iron Maiden like - Seventh Son, Alexander The Great,Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Sign Of The Cross, etc.
