The District’s most talented artists recreate the powerful sound of legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Steve Winwood and Traffic The legendary English rock band Traffic rose to prominence in the late ’60s and ’70s with hits like “Hole in my Shoe, “Feelin’ Alright, and the pivotal “The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Steve Winwood helped found Traffic in 1967 as the lead singer and keyboardist and later formed bluesy supergroup Blind Faith with English rock icon Eric Clapton. He has also had a successful solo career as a pop artist, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance for his hit song “Higher Love” in 1986. BandHouse Gigs is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization that began in 2004 when the Washington Music Association wanted to produce a tribute concert to Nils Lofgren.
