Bio
Tom Gillam is not afraid of change. In the 2 years since the release of his last studio effort, 2007’s “Never Look Back”, he has changed his zip code (moving permanently to Austin Texas), changed his lifestyle (after a serious health issue in 05 he became clean & sober), and even changed how he made his music ( playing and recording with some of the best musicians in Austin). His new CD “Had Enough?” (Smith Group Music) reflects all this and more. From the muscular rock of LP opener “Real Thing” and the swampy “Ride” to the reflective lyrical turns of “Ready to Begin” and “Weary Game”, Gillam and longtime producer Joe Carroll, have crafted, what could be, 48 minutes of the perfect LP
About
Tom Gillam is not afraid of change. From the muscular rock of LP opener “Real Thing” and the swampy “Ride” (featuring Ed Jurdi frm the Band of Heathens & blues rocker Guy Forsyth) to the reflective lyrical turns of “Ready to Begin” and “Weary Game”, Gillam and longtime producer Joe Carroll, have crafted, what could be, 48 minutes of the perfect LP. Augmenting Tom Gillam’s regular backing unit Tractor Pull are former Alejandro Escavedo band members Al Durham (guitar) ,Michael “Cornbread” Trailor (Bassguitar) and drummer Vicente Rodruigez giving “Had Enough?” a decidedly more “Texas” feel. With extensive touring planned for both here in the US and Europe in the fall, “Had Enough?” looks to be Tom Gillam’s strongest release ever and a perfect companion to his previous ones , 2001 “Dallas” 2005 “Shake My Hand”, & ‘07’s “Never Look Back”.. I think if you as Tom Gillam if he’s “Had Enough?” I’m sure the answer would be “Absolutely not!!”.
