CityFolk is the genre for my music

"I`m using elements of City Folk and Pop to tell stories. The core of music is about making relationships in the todays world. My approach to music is quality. I try to create music that feels the same as you would inhale, fill your lungs with air and hold it there for a second or two. Music that is simple as it can be. Meaningful music that moves me and hopefully You can feel the same."


Background to the story

I`ve been taking elements from pop, folk and even from rockmusic. I just listen The Beatles, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd and soul music a lot when I was younger! For me, writing is a long process - I takes time and sometimes you hope that you would have more of that.
Been writing music for few years now. I had feeling earlier that I don`t have anything to say. The thought of that pressured my music life past years. But something clicked when I took more active role in a issue. I felt it was natural to write and create music, to press my thoughts and feelings through with music(all thought I´m not sure if performing live is my thing at all). It´s sensitive, the process I mean. And to get a feeling - it can come from where ever.
It`s about moments in life, sometimes tiny feelings that passes you by in no time. Things that are present only in that moment - reflection. So songs are very personal for me, but the situations are from everyday life and something one can relate to, i hope.

Thom Heatly`s Band that plays in the studio tracks is:

Jari Ravaska Thom`s right hand, co-writer and he is in charge of programming.

Riku Karvonen(gtr)  Riku has played with Thom since the nineties. Has style of his own and clear visual eye for music. He has played in several bands like Sami Saari, Huba and Jenni Vartiainen. 

Mikko Kaakkuriniemi(dr) is our favorite drummer. He has played in several bands like Quintessence, Tuomo, Huba and Von Hertzen Brothers. He is also the finnish tabledrummer champion from 2006.


Jani Snellman(b) Has played with Thom since the eighties. He has played in several bands like Kaija Koo and Poets Of The Fall. Jani is also one of the few people one really wants work with.

Live Band:Jan Furustam(gtr) We started playing as a Duo in 2009. Solo and Duo are the forms of Thom Heatly`s live band at the moment(November/December 2009).
