"The British Invasion" comes to Montgomery's Alley Bar Satur­day when the venue plays host to a viewing party of the U.S. vs. Eng­land match of the World Cup broadcast. First, the Wes Paul Band, the house band of Liverpool's The Cav­ern Club, will play, followed from 9 p.m. to midnight by The Return: A Beatles Tribute. The group re-creates the experience of seeing a live Beatles show in the '60s.

Early next Sunday morning, August 24, 125 Bikers Club members will leave Big D's bikers' bar in Halifax Road, Todmorden, for Southport, returning at 4 pm for the party, with proceeds from the club's £5 tickets which have been sold to members for the event going to Christie's Hospital, Manchester. Event organiser, Rita Frayne, a singer with the Three Valleys’ Gospel Choir, one of the acts to perform at the event on Saturday, March 13, said she hoped to fill the 500 seater Hippodrome in Todmorden to raise hundreds of pounds for Haiti.Confirmed acts on the bill are rock and funk band Share the Blame, Tribal Belly Dancers from Halifax, the Wes Paul Band, as well as the gospel choir and a variety of guest artists.”
