Bio
The Urbane Decay is songs written and recorded by Jakob Neil (since 2002). They're usually poppy, sad and somewhat tragic songs about his love-life (described on an ex-girlfriend's blog as "diary entries, the kind covered in pink fun-fur wih a lock on the side"). Some people call these ditties "emotionally devastating" while others have called them "songs about lonely people, for lonely people, by a lonely person" (http://backofthebook.ca/). That's fair enough.
About
For a while Nate and Jamie were playing the songs but then Jakob moved to Toronto and Nate and Jamie didn't. Jakob also used to play guitar and program drum-machines in a shoegaze/trip-hop duo called Sister Ray (2006-07) with a girl called Mel but she moved to Portland to marry her internet gilfriend. Before that he played keyboards and drum-machines in a disco-punk band called The Clap (2005ish) but that, like most things in life, fell apart too. Jakob also plays psyche music as Heavy Moon. Long ago he ran a punk-pop-indie-rock outfit called superPOP (1995-97). But that was a long time ago and merely of vague regional interest. Did I mention Jakob is from Vancouver Island? He is. Lots of people are. But like I mentioned, he moved to Toronto which he finds to be overly large, isolating and polluted but full of good restaurants and bookstores.
