“Two Plant 6 operators team up on holiday recording for Make-A-Wish John Brenning and JJ Johnson have both played music in a number of different bands for several decades. The two recently joined together with other local musicians to record one of Brenning’s original songs, “Christmas Without You Blues.” The tune appears on Holiday Wishes 3: If You Believe, a Make-A-Wish® benefit CD featuring songs and readings contributed by area musicians and media personalities. “My guitarist buddy, Denny Yost and I have performed together for years under the name The Two Guys Who Play Music,” explained Brenning, who played bass on the charity recording. “We’ve also played with JJ when we can. Though it’s hard for us to get together because, we’re on different shift teams, we call J. J. The Tird Two Guy. For the Make-A-Wish song we wanted more of a full-band blues sound, so we recruited my wife Sheila to sing, JJ on keyboards, Jack Reed on lea”

“Higher Ground presents music PEMBERVILLE — The Higher Ground Coffee Shop at 222 E. Front St. will start presenting live music with a show Friday from 8 to 11 p.m. by The Two Guys Who Play Music. The Temperance, Mich. band got started when Denny Yost, singer and guitar, and John Brenning singer and bass, played music while students at the University of Toledo. They’ve been joined by Brenning’s wife Sheila on guitar and vocals. They feature a number of original tunes. Live music at the shop will be offered on the first and third Fridays of each month.”
