“The story behind the band name comes from Savage being a fan of early movies, especially Gene Kelly's "Singing In The Rain." "Gene Kelly says, Well, we movie stars get the glory; I guess we have to take the little heartaches that go with it. People think we live lives of glamour and romance, but we're really lonely, terribly lonely.' That is the idea behind The Truth About Moviestars, even if we idolize people and put them on a pedestal as the epitome of this or that, they're still just people," said Savage. The music they make is in reference to that old-timey feel, Savage said. "I am inspired by actors like Audrey Hepburn, and with our newest album, Black and White Affair,' it is a take on that feeling you get from old movies," he said. "I guess you could say I romanticize everything."”
