The music of The Transit War has been described by a major media outlet as “a melodic masterpiece of pensive indie rock streaming from a place of beauty and intensity, with the band’s sound engulfing a moment of rawness and elegance that few bands achieve.” They continue: “This is one band that will define the essence of talent and vision.”

The original concept of The Transit War (TTW) started in 2001 and released their self-titled 6-song EP a year later, which did fairly well by selling out of its initial pressing. After releasing a sampler here and being featured on compilations there, the band took its current form in late 2003 and began recording Ah Discordia! in late 2004. Produced by Grammy nominated Joe Marlett, (Releint K, Fenix*Tx), the band loved the chemistry that came out of those sessions. “Joe made the recording process effortless and open for creativity to flow freely” says Jaime of the Transit War.

Orange Peal Records signed The Transit War in 2005 and immediately re-released their acclaimed record Ah Discordia!

The success of Ah Discordia! was incredible for an independent release. With over 70,000 plays on Yahoo! Music, the video for the song “Kerosene” competed statistically with major label releases.

In 2006, The Transit War continued to tour extensively, taking a break in Austin, TX to meet with Marlett once again and record “Miss Your Face,” The Transit War’s biggest and baddest sounding album to date.

One reviewer in Cleveland says, “For a band who just shot out of the underground and toward the mainstream market, The Transit War break through with a solid sophomore release with Miss Your Face. Unlike their peers, The Transit War just are in your face and scary powerful. It’s refreshing not to hear the same old stale, generic, pre-packaged emotional rock music and instead we get alternative rock that would bite hard and never let go.”

Because of similar industry buzz, the Alternative Press awarded The Transit War with coverage as one of the “100 Bands You Need To Know In 2007.”

It is quite obvious that after hearing the progression of The Transit War, the ceiling on these men is well above the horizon. Keep an eye out for these four San Diegans; a War is brewing on the horizon.
