About
Spawning from a childhood friendship, the Sweater Friends are a musical joke gone wrong. Allyson and Jake grew up down the street from each other. After high school, Jake spent 2 years in California as a missionary for his church. Due to limited communication with home, they stayed in touch via letters and the occasional cassette tape. On one such tape, Allyson sang "Suicide Medicine" by Rocky Votolato which was better than a birthday present for the music starved Missionary. After returning to Salt Lake, the two began to play and write music together for a laugh, never thinking their basement and bedroom written songs would find attention.
With an impromptu invitation to fill in on a local show, strangers and friends alike responded unexpectedly positive and The Sweater Friends were born. Since then, the Sweater Friends have made the rounds from TV spots and radio time, to raving magazine reviews and opening for nation wide tours. With a charming and intelligent wit, the Sweater Friends' hand crafted catchy tunes delight and captivate any listener in range. We at the Sweater Friends would like to thank anyone and everyone that has given our music meaning and value, because when it really comes down to it, we are all sweater friends.
