Bio
A LONG STORY SHORT. Neil, singer and guitarist, and Mark, bassist, had been together for some time in their home town of Hartlepool, playing many gigs around the north, their German twin town Huckelhoven and beyond.
After a chance gig at Ripon University they met Scott, the to become drummer from Portsmouth. Many months passed and members fell by
the decision to bring their aural pleasures to London town where, unbelievably, they bump into Scott who kindly obliges their request for him to join them on their musicalquest. They shared the same love of the classic pop song and lack of it in the musical climate, things HAD'to change!.They often share the same bed when on tour also.
Then they were 3 and that's the way we want it to stay.
About
The Standards are Neil (Vocals, Guitar) Mark (Vocals, Bass) Scott (Vocals, Drums) - all singing, all playing, all writing. For us to try to describe our {or any} music would be like dancing to architecture so you decide. We have no aspirations to be underground, we're a pop/alternative group who writes instantly catchy tunes that you can't help whistling along to after one earful, think that's a description actually isn't it? We like to have fun at our shows. Come see for yourself... Here's some acts we've played with... The Wombats, The Cribs, Friendly Fires, Sparks, The Draytones, 747's and The Rakes to name a few.
Check out two of our videos by clicking on the TV icon near songs 'Needless to Say' & 'The Great Society'. We hope you like 'em.
