Q: Do you have a method to writing your songs? What makes you get the idea for a new song?
A: I have about 4 ways to get going. One: I hear a song style and like it, so I write one of my own in that style (reggae, blues, etc.). Or, I find a hook line that I like and build the story around it. Or, I find a cool guitar riff or set of chords and build around that. Or, inspiration by an issue we deal with often breeds a song. Often I write the story, then alter it later to deal with rhythm, rhymes or music. Hope this is the answer you look for! Later, SRM of the SWB.
