The Royal Crowns / Press

“Toronto’s own Royal Crowns will be playing AGAIN at the Next Generation Swing Dance at the Hamlin House Ballroom in Buffalo! W’re big fans of the Cool Cats in this band — they’re a genuine rockabilly treat! They played at the ballroom back in February and it was a great time! The Hamlin House is a beautiful and historic ballroom, with a nice stage, lots of room to dance and a full bar to boot. This is sure to be a great show where you can listen to the band, watch the dancers, or get on the dance-floor yourself! If the great band and fabulous setting weren’t enough, this is also a retro prom themed event! Come in your tux and gown for some great prom themed fun! Tickets are $8 pre-sale/$12 door. (Pre-sale tickets available at Cats Like Us.)”

“As a young, broncin' buck with a pink carnation and a pick-up truck, my first dose of live rockabilly came from Toronto's Royal Crowns. The band went way beyond the Elvis vintage and the Stray Cats' hot-rodded pop-bop and dug into the music's Memphis roots with detours into jazz and swing. Guitarist Danny Bartley (ex-Razorbacks, Shotgun Shack) shifts from breakneck twang to sultry jazz phrasing often within the same song, and drummer Teddy Fury plugs the swing into the whole thing. Good ol' greasy American fun, played by Canadians. It's going to get hot in there when the band shares the bill with psychobilly disciples Devil Spring, instrumental missing link The Tombstone Hands, and others.”
