“When I read the press release’s description of the Procession as an indie rock band, I can’t say that I was feeling particularly inspired, such is the dilution of the term indie from overuse in the mainstream media. Fortunately I went against my initial instinct to bung the CD on the rubbish pile, and instead popped in the CD and put my feet up to listen to this four track EP. Why fortunately? Because it contains some of the most incendiary rock tracks I’ve heard since the early 80s, just before Bono disappeared up his own arse. That’s why! The EP kicks off with ‘Sometimes’ an angular guitar driven track featuring slightly wobbly vocals (wobbly to convey emotion, probably), it’s pretty good but wouldn’t have been my choice as the lead track. ‘Johnny Gets A Raw Deal’ and ‘A_S_L’ however find James’ vocals finding their form and sounding more urgent as overdriven guitars and pounded drums beat out infectious rhythms around him. Can’t wait for the album!”

“The Procession have all the makings of a portentous indie marginal—huge choruses upchucking distortion and phrases like ‘find my pain,’ slow bass-led verses giving full reign to the vocalist’s suffering. Then again, they also have all the makings of a bouncy indie marginal—summery chords and Cure-like desolation in the guise of happiness. But hold on a minute. They also have all the makings of a retro Britpop band going indie—all thrust and raillery, attitude and horrible singers. And they also prove themselves to be a worthy Catherine Wheel tribute act. In fact, The Procession can’t decide what to be. But this is a debut EP and such uncertainty is applauded and called ‘eclecticism.’ This group feed from a deep trough of influence, most notably the guitar stylings which show a loving devotion to Robin Guthrie. And quite right too. Not a bad place for a new band to start. I wish them all the iceblink luck in the world. ”

“Made up of four tracks, they have a very chilled, festival-buzz way about them. They remind me a little of The Quails in parts, but have definitely made their mark and are continuing to hold their ground. I’d have to say ‘A_S_L’ is my favourite from this EP, the bass line at the beginning just grabs you straight away. Whether you’re at the barrier jumping around like a loon, or kicking back with a beer in hand, I could imagine you would enjoy these guys on a big open stage either way. Preparing you for the sunny days to come, this EP is simply something to tickle your taste buds before their much anticipated debut album we are expecting this summer. If you’re looking for short but sweet, their second track ‘Johnny Got A Raw Deal’ is running in at just 2:03 and has some pretty tasty guitar. Oh, and not forgetting the vocals – Shweeeeeeeet. I’d be intrigued to hear an acoustic track from The Procession, and I’m now keeping my ears and eyes open for their debut album!”
