The idea of Otterfest came about in October of 2013 when a group of music loving friends were at a wedding reception at the Sons of Italy campground right outside of Lock Haven, PA. It was a beautiful fall day/night filled with lots of music and beer. A lot of crazy things happened that night and a lot of memories were made. The group of friends made a pact that in October of 2014 they were all coming back to that same campground and having another great weekend. However, this time they were adding live music and more people to create the first ever Central PA Music Festival, Otterfest. The name Otterfest was created when the event was originally scheduled for October 4th. This date is the birthday of one of the friends whose nickname is Otter. When the date was pushed back to October 18th, the name stuck. The fall season in Central PA is filled with 2 things: tailgating and football. The date of October 18th was chosen because that is a Saturday when Penn State does not have a game. We have decided that Otterfest 2014 is going to be a BYOB event. It's never fair to attend a concert where 2 beers cost you $20. At Otterfest, you can spend that $20 on a case of beer to bring with you. Everyone who attends Otterfest must be at least 21 years old. Carpooling with friends is encouraged and we recommend that all attendees spend the night and bring a tent or sleep in your vehicles to prevent drunk driving.
