So hey this is Richard Beck.  I play guitar and write songs for a band I started called The Original Duplicates.  I'm 24 years old and love to play guitar, sing, and write music. 

        The Original Duplicate is not what I am but what I am striving to be. I don't want my life to be a copy of somebody else who's life is a copy of the person they admire most. This would leave me watered down and unoriginal. Most of all I would be following man not God. I want to copy my life after Jesus Christ and be "The Original Duplicate"  I want to be the Original duplicate not the copy of a copy of a copy. I want my roots to go back to Jesus not a copy or a duplicate of somebody else that is trying to be a good Christian. 

        I grew up in a conservative Mennonite home in Hicksville, OH. I played “Christian” for 21 years. My life was a mess. After some serious alcohol poisoning I realized my life was a joke. I realized that I was missing something. I realized that calling myself a Christian didn't mean I was, and that being a good person doesn't mean God will let you into heaven. I called out to God and he came to my rescue. Since then my life has not been easy. But I wouldn't trade my personal relationship with God for anything!

        As far as the music goes... I'm not a great singer but it comes from my heart. I like to write songs, and play guitar. Most of my songs are based on experiences from my past but some are based on other peoples lives. I hope to find a bass player and a drummer and some studio magic so some day these songs could be played they way I wrote them to be played. But We'll see what God has planed.

        Right now I'm busy recording new songs. As I get them done I'll post them.  My good friend Colby sings and writes music too so we joined up to add some diversity to our music.  I feel that music is the only way someone can truly express them self.   We currently have only like 31 fans and have no money to pay for studio magic so right now we are just laying down a couple tracks here and there to give you an idea of what's to come.
