The Noll Brothers — singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Adam and Damian — are about to make a splash in the country music scene. Their younger brother Shannon burst into the spotlight through “Australian Idol” and went on to become the only Australian male performer to have eleven consecutive Top 10 hits. The three brothers grew up singing in bands together for over 20 years. Adam and Damian played in Shannon's band (respectively guitar and drums) for the past three years, and Damian wrote a song called “The Way That I Feel” for Shannon which sold 1 million copies.
The Noll Brothers released their first single “Shining Star” on Sydney based Emporium Music, through Shock Records. It debut #1 on the AIR charts & #8 on the ARIA Australian Singles Chart.
It's a very country music sentiment — which is not surprising because we're born and bred country folks. It's about people you enjoy being around because they make you smile. As the song says, we're friends, so you don't have to pass any test with me.” “Country music is about simple folks passing their feelings to others through a story. ‘Shining Star' is a tale that people can make a difference. The guy digging trenches to feed his kids is just as important as the rock star flying around the world in jet planes. Both are doing it for their families.”
In the accompanying video, the Noll Brothers featured people of many colours, races and religions.
The b-side “Give A Little” is based on a philosophy their parents Sharyn and Neil Noll imparted to their sons — don't expect to get anything out of life until you put something in.
After a successful trip to the Tamworth Music Festival (where they were nominated for a Golden Guitar award for best group/duo only to miss out to The McClymonts, the forever beautiful other siblings!), playing at least two shows a day to a minimum crowd of 500 at most shows, Adam and Damian, known as The Noll Brothers, announced another run of live shows that they will be doing with Adam Harvey and Catherine Britt through Feb. March & April. Touring with Australian of the Year Lee Kernaghan in May (Dates can be found in the show section above)
The Noll Brothers will also release their second single "A Country Heart" (co-written with Shannon) to radio only. The title track, tells the story of their parents and themselves, but has universal truths about the sacrifices made by the individual for the good of the family. "A Country Heart is our story," Damian explains. "It's about our family but it's also about every family out here on the land........." Its' a situation the Nolls know first hand. After more than a century, in 2003 the Nolls had to sell the family farm which was brought on by the ongoing drought.
The Noll Brothers launched their debut album – A Country Heart – at a series of shows in Tamworth during the 2008 Country Music Festival.
The world is practically unrecognisable from what it was five years ago, said a spokesman for the brothers. "Back then, they were working farmers with a nice little sideline in the form of a family band which allowed them the opportunity to travel rural Australia pleasing crowds with their rowdy mix of good time rock and country.
Produced by Craig Porteils, A Country Heart was recorded in Sydney's Velvet Sound Studios. Nine of 12 tracks were written by the Noll brothers, "each reflecting their love of driving and energetic country music as well as the stripped back rock recalling the likes of John Mellencamp, who was so popular with the boys when growing up".
