About
The New York Howl formed in the depths of NYC's downtown underground in August 2005, and already by November were touring the North East Coast supporting the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players. Their eclectic energetic live shows deliver raw punk energy, soulful uplifting gospel, dirty blues and garage rock.
Their debut album, "People Will Come To See Us Ride" was self-released in August of 2006, followed immediately by a tour throughout England, in which they supported Jeff Lewis, and headlined at the Anti-Folk UK Summer Festival.
In April 2007 they headed down to Austin Texas where they featured at the South By Southwest music conference, after which they headed off to England again to play a 2-week sold-out tour supporting Jamie T, with 12 shows in 13 days.
Returning to their home town, they are entering the studio once again to begin work on a new record. Due date tba.
"They will rock your world!" (Times, London), "These guys can REALLY play", (New York Press), "Reckless yet driving rock n roll with strong blues underpinnings." (Time Out NYC), "...the best breakout band at last year's CMJ music fest..." (TWI.com, NYC), "Serious, honest music" (FreeNYC.net), "Enviable melodic hooks in tracks that will have you humming for weeks" (The Deli magazine, NYC).
