   The room goes dark, shadows scatter onto the stage, the lights go on. The beautiful lead singer, punk siren Amy Dumas attacks the crowd with her punk influenced banter, crawling on speakers, stage diving into the pit and making the fans sing along to The Luchagors hook laden sonics. Influenced by a wide range of punk and metal legends like 7 Seconds, Lunachicks, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Jawbreaker, Plasmatics, Desendents, Avail, Misfits, Thin Lizzy, Rose Tattoo, Alice Cooper, The Dwarves, The Stooges, Dead Boys, The Damned, Iron Maiden, and Naked Raygun… The Luchagors bring the same old school energy that the DIY legends strived for.

   The Luchagors are a DIY punk band from Atlanta, Georgia who are fronted by Amy Dumas. You might recognize Amy, she wrestled as Lita in the WWE. Amy was an influential force in women's wrestling in ECW and the WWE over the past decade. Amy is also the host of PunkRockAlypse a punk rock radio show on Project961 Atlanta. Alongside Amy are Shane Morton on guitar, Jay Leslie Hedberg on bass and Racci Shay Hart on the drums. The Luchagors have a great punk, pop-punk, metal sound with catchy lyrics that you’ll want to sing along to.

   "Lucha-what?!" Luchagors it’s a made up word, "lucha" for Mexican wrestling (the style Amy is a big fan of and used to wrestle with) and "Gor" for horror and gore because Shane is a big fan of horror and monster movies. Shane is the brains and horror host behind the Silver Scream Spook Show, a live improv comedy Pee-wee’s Playhouse meets the Addams Family. Shane has also done creature make-ups and special effects in movies and has tattooed scary things on people all over the world. When you start throwing “Luchawhore” (another one of Amy’s made up words) out there its actually pretty funny, it’s quite the attention getter. The Luchawhores are the fans of The Luchagors. Although they are a relatively new band The Luchagors have a good following already including fans spanning across the United States and from all over the world. The Luchagors street team has been actively spreading the word about the band online via myspace and on the streets with flyers advertising the band. 

   The Luchagors formed in the summer of 2006 and started playing gigs in and around Atlanta. Amy and Shane co-write all of the band’s songs. The Luchagors independently released their self titled debut album, which was produced by Rachel Boland of Skid Row, in September of 2007. Since the release of the album the band has already completed three US tours, a European tour and a show in Mexico City. The Luchagors second European tour will kick off in July of 2009. So far The Gors have shared the stage with many great bands including The Unseen, Circle Jerks, A Wilhelm Scream, Bouncing Souls, Nashville Pussy, The Methadones, Street Dogs, The Dollyrots and Skid Row.

   The Luchagors definitely have DIY ethics; they don’t have a roadie or tour manager, its just them out on tour doing it all: driving the van, lugging their gear around, performing, selling their merchandise and hanging out with their fans after the show.

   Go see The Luchagors LIVE when they’re in a city near you, you won’t be disappointed. While you’re waiting for a show go get their debut album - it’s the next best thing to seeing them LIVE.
