The Kimbo Band is an alternative progressive rock trio bent on making music to move you. With memorable melodies and evocative lyrics, a night spent with The Kimbo Band is time well-spent for body and soul.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Kimbo sings with a powerfully haunting voice, has a unique rhythm guitar style wary of conventional chords, and writes thought-provoking lyrics. Self taught on guitar and drawing on such varied influences as U2, Indigo Girls and Phish, Kimbo is a handwritten poem in a world of power point presentations. Spokes, Kimbo's debut solo album, was produced by Mark Hallman and was released April 22, 2008 by Sunny Groves Music.
Bassist Stephen has a passion for playing for the song. His sound emotes subtle textures with an enriching, resonating tone. Stephen is a solid pocket player with a joyful, playful side. Influences include Phil Lesh, James Jamerson, Oteil Burbridge and Mick Karn. Stephen brings 15 years of recording and live performance experience in support of a captivating lead singer.
Drummer Blake, through a curious series of events, found a serious duo of musicians in Kimbo and Stephen. A "feel" player by choice, he managed to pick up a bit of technical proficiency during his many years of playing. Influences include Carter Beauford, John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Taylor Hawkins, and Dom Howard, minus their respective awesomeness.
The Kimbo Band is an experienced, cohesive trio that unites audiences into sound jumping frenzies. The chemistry these three share is fun, brilliant and rejuvenating.
