More About The Artist
When Jhoni Proffit plays, you see at least 100 years worth of musical experience on the stage! Bands not only need talent, ambition, and enthusiasm, but they also need musical experience and a variety of songs to keep their audience entertained. Jhoni Proffit has all of the above! Along with those qualities, Jhoni Proffit is very versatile with their song-list. Jhoni Proffit plays old country (Hello Walls and Oh, Lonesome Me), old rock (Never Been to Spain and Mustang Sally), new country (All Jacked Up and Before He Cheats), alternative/new rock (Push and With Arms Wide Open), and newer rock/pop (How You Remind Me and Walk Away) and MANY more! The versatility, experience and devotion of the members of the Jhoni Proffit Band is shown every time they play!
Big John has played with many bands in Western Kentucky since he started playing music--one was the band Frostwood, who played a lot in southern Illinois. He plays lead guitar like no other in the area, and he rehearses daily to ensure that his songs sound good to him--if you KNOW John, you know that he is a perfectionist where music is concerned, and if he can please himself, he will surely please the audience! The number of songs he knows how to play and sing is mind-boggling, and it really adds to Jhoni Proffit's versatility and ability to play almost every song an audience requests.
Norris has also been in many bands around KY and southern Illinois. You have probably seen him around the Paducah area--one of the bands he was with was NickelRose, which played at the old Blue Ribbon Lounge (for those of you who don't know, the Blue Ribbon was on the corner of Irvin Cobb Drive and Puryear where the Walgreens now sits, and was a VERY popular club in its day). He not only plays the bass guitar with his own style and a confidence which grows only from experience, but he also adds so much to Jhoni Proffit with his vocal harmonies and bass solos!
Tony[BamBam] Borden is another experienced musician. His father plays piano and sings at church, and Bam grew up learning harmonies, which shows tremendously in Jhoni Proffit's songs. Jhoni Proffit can stand up with any band when it comes to harmony. Their harmony vocals shine with Tony leading the way--three-part harmony is heard in many of their songs. In years past, playing with groups like River City Band and other local bands, he has established himself as a fine drummer in our area of western KY.
Last but not least, Amy joined Tony, John, and Norris after they had already established themselves as a fine band. Amy has been in western Kentucky all her life and now teaches in a local school. While she hasn't been in as many bands as the guys over the years, she has kept close to the local music scene, organizing the entertainment for the Labor Day picnic for five years, working with children who sing at the Kentucky Opry (she was V V's vocal coach until she outgrew the need), singing on the street at Downtown After Dinner in Paducah, and collecting karaoke tracks so that she could practice her singing. She maintains that some bands get keyboard players who can sing a little, but Jhoni Proffit has a singer that plays keys a little! She works hard to get better on the keyboard, however, and she adds to Jhoni Proffit what many area bands don't have--a female voice along with a female perspective.
As you can see, Jhoni Proffit has all it takes to be the band you want for your next party, festival, or show. Contact information is located above--you better hurry, because their summer dates are going fast!
