The ridiculous accomplishment of their sound and the fact that they're still trucking it here in Brisbane, almost seems like a contradiction in terms, everytime I run across them. "Each song sounds nothing like the next and each contains it’s own unique stamp on the record with no niche left untouched. Songs such as ‘Footprints’, ‘Ratings’ and ‘Ineffective Lullaby’ bring back that crisp, vintage sound and attitude of the 60′s and 70′s. Track #6, ‘Last Person Alive’ is the highlight of the record, containing some of the best Hard Rock riffs I’ve heard all year and is one of the tightest, free flowing Progressive tracks of the year. Complex would most likely be an understatement when it comes to ‘The Incredible Kicks sound’, but the band have managed to maintain a successful marriage between complexity and style. "Ratings" is more akin to a pretty effin decent early Rolling Stones song, with high capacity lung singing the prime Mick Jagger would be quite happy with, in my opinion. (If Mick Jagger ever had a prime, that is.) Imagine how the psychedelic rock of the '70s would sound if their top-to-bottom essence had possessed a band of hook-fixated - which is a good thing. - angry doom-metalheads in a marshmallow penthouse, and you'll have a hunch of what to expect. The track is relentlessly angry, exigently and hilariously frustrated, and, while being a consistent, solid musical performance, it never takes itself too serious, which is one of its most adorable charms. Another superb entry.

We're going on tour...again! With their July tour supporting Karnivool almost completely sold out, Sydney's sleepmakeswaves have announced a headlining tour of Australia for September. Taking in 6 states (including their first ever visit to Tasmania), the tour follows a busy 2012 that has seen the instrumental rockers tour the US, Europe and Australia extensively. The tour caps off an amazing year that has seen SMW perform at SXSW Festival in Texas, Belgium's Dunk Festival (alongside 65daysofstatic), support Japan's Boris (and the aforementioned Karnivool) and most recently, secure an American release for their album '...and so we destroyed everything.' With plans to head to the UK, Asia, New Zealand and a return jaunt to the US and Europe in 2013, their latest track to be featured is a fitting description for the band's extensive touring.
