About

The Idiomatics are a three-piece band formed in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2009. Together, they blend many genres of music in one exciting, energetic show. The Idiomatics are a band you do not want to miss because of the stage presence, musicianship and genre-crossing talents that merge everything into blissful ear candy.

The band’s guitar player and vocalist Michael Geddes, who has his own solo compact disc “Create” available, brings a style of play and writing comparable with some of the best pop indie and alternative bands on the planet. Audience members have compared The Idiomatics with bands such as Radiohead, Sonic Youth and even The Beatles.
Dan Telvock, the bassist and New York transplant, has played in various bands for 10 years. However, even he agrees The Idiomatics will be his most successful musical adventure to date.
Jonathan “JB” Burkett, the percussionist, also has played in various bands since his college days at James Madison University.
The Idiomatics came together in a bedroom, meeting one another through mutual friends. After playing a Radiohead song called “Nude,” the three felt an irreplaceable connection and they soon were playing music together. The Idiomatics already have played every major venue in Fredericksburg, including The Loft and the Colonial Tavern. But they’ve also been able to tap DC venues such as Wonderland Ballrooms and Sollys, where they were well received. Geddes has already sold numbers of his own disc “Create.”
More than 400 people have signed the group’s newsletter and more than 100,000 people have visited the group’s MySpace page.
The Idiomatics are planning a summer tour and have numerous gigs planned for the year. To contact the band, visit the contact section of the band’s Web page, theidiomatics.com
