Bio
The Hollis-Robinson Project is a duo of music professionals-turned hobbyists a number of years ago. We work together long-distance, sharing wav files to arrange and create our songs, which vary widely in style and genre. Both of us are multi-instrumentalists, but we're planning on getting a few more folks involved.
About
Richard lives in the UK, Joellen lives in the US. Our biggest influences are folk-rock groups such as Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention, but we delve into all sorts of stuff -- whatever strikes our fancy!
Preparations for the third CD, as-yet unnamed, are under way. We're planning a double-disc set of all trad music. Disc 1 will be all acoustic, and disc 2 will be a bit more eclectic in nature, but both discs will be of traditional ballads and other songs. Some will feature the original melodies, others will feature our own music. We're hoping to get this one out by the end of 2009/early 2010.
We added bass (Richard) and banjo (Joellen) to a track written and produced by our friend Jonathan Taylor, called I Love You, which can be found on his new album "A Useful Fool," available at www.cdbaby.com/taylorjonathan8. We're proud to have contributed to this marvellous collection of songs.
Also in the works is a second Cleveland Gathering, scheduled for August 8, 2009, at The Symposium in Lakewood, Ohio. The documentary of the first Gathering, held in June of 2008 and filmed by documentarian/filmmaker Tyler Weaver, is completed and has been submitted to independent film festivals. You can read a bit about it at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1409013/. If you would like a copy, please leave us a message! (The DVD is free, all we need is the cost of mailing it out.) We're looking forward once again to a great international turnout of artists at this year's event!
Our second CD, called Major In-Roads, featuring three instrumental selections written by Richard Hollis, as well as a mixture of folk-rock, country-folk, and some other goodies, is now "out of print." Thanks to those who ordered! :o)
Our first CD was called Remote Control. We made 60 copies of it and gave it away to friends and family...the CD was sent to people in the UK, Germany, Australia, and all over the US, and encompassed several different genres. (It's now officially "out of print.") Our song Devil Train appears on a charity fundraiser CD for an animal shelter in Bulgaria, which can be found on CD Baby (http://cdbaby.com/cd/youmustbebarking). "Devil's Train" is the name of a new syndicated folk music program, hosted by Jonathan Taylor. For more information, please visit http://www.myspace.com/nowtsoqueerasfolk!
