"If Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion) and The Dreadnoughts had offspring, they would be called Helligans and their album would be One Bad Apple - A breath of fresh Pirate Punk air from the central plains of Montana"
“My attention was grabbed right at the first track off the release, "Rather Die", which is a hyper-negative reflection on romance. The album goes along steadily with excellent portrayal of rockabilly-style guitar playing, the occasional washboard cameo, a variety of percussion and talented (often hilarious) vocal inflections. Just when I was getting really involved with the record the music stopped. In this silence someone on the CD piped up and yelled: "Yeah, come on! Put it in your ass!" That beautiful song is called: "Aborted at Fourteen." As we all know, vulgarities and inappropriate content such as that does nothing other than melt my heart. I want to write them a letter and tell them: "You had me at hello."”
“Cant stop listening to 'One Bad Apple'. awesome fucking job. titties with beer on top! or vise versa.”
““The Helligan’s album, ‘One Bad Apple’ mixes a wide range of influences into a whiskey fueled, balls out, rock and roll fury. From the grinding ‘Aborted At Fourteen’, to the Tom Waitsesque ‘Pig Urn’, to the top notch cover of ‘Drunken Sailor’, this is definitely a record worth checking out!” - Owen Mays”
"These men offer up the most satisfying, soul-stompin', blues-y, thumb your nose at genre pigeonholing, in your face Rock N' Roll Great Falls has to offer. Their utter irreverance for the Central Montana so-called "social norm" pummels your eardrums in songs such as "Aborted At Fourteen", "Grandpa" and "Honey Hush". No apologies made, just a very clear "Fuck You, Y'all"!"
