The Hannafords are a true blue, Home Grown Folk Band with a Zing!! From Healesville Victoria, Australia, They have Honed
their Musical Skills into what it is today. They have presented the listener a celebration of sound that we have not experienced
in more than a decade.
The Hannafords are impeccable in their pure songwriting Skills and presentation. In my opinion being true to the roots of Folk
Traditions. They Have single handedly taken charge throughout this magnificent Album. Between Craig playing rythm Guitar and
the likes of legend Hugh McDonald on Guitar, Dobro, Mandolin , Violin Bass and Percussion... they had us.
Auriol Hannaford is exceptional not only with her vocals, but in the way she holds us till the last note of each song she sings. This
lady has more talent in her baby finger than most could hope for in an entire lifetime. Brilliant work on these tracks. This is THE Album
to have in your collection. It is expertly recorded and is the level of excellence from which all Folk should aspire to acheive in this particular
style of Folk.
The three Tracks I have chosen to single out are as follows. And believe me it was hard to choose!
1) 4:03 - This has got to be one of my all time favorites! Auriol Hannaford tells a story like only she can! Waking up at 4:03 every night for all
the wrong reasons or at least not the ones you would think. As we age gracefully our bodies play tricks on us. This is the most charming and funny song I have heard in years. The backup vocals are wonderful, the melody catchy. The use of the violin is ingenious!
2) Somebody's Leaving - Once again Auriol's voice will carry you away on the wings of this wonderful song. The song flows easily in an up
tempo style. It is the story of somebody who is leaving , how she retains her positive outlook even though inside she feels something quite different. It is a story of percerverence. The instruments used on this track lend warmth and will have you humming along with Auriol from
the get go.
3) Hard Times Come Again No More - This song speaks of troubles and hard times that visit our lives. Reminicent of the 60's style of Folk in its best form. She has done a magnificent job at sweeping us into this deep and soulful story. The guitar gives this piece a life of its own. I could play this song twenty times and never tire of it. Absolutely brilliant.
Not From 'Round Here is a huge success. A Gift to Listeners of all ages. Songs you will remember when you are old. They will stand the test of time. They will live longer than we do. They are just that incredible. Listen for yourself. You will Thank me.
