FREDRIX...LIVENDIRECT!

After an amazing year for FREDRIX..after completing his 4th Summer tour of the East Coast the "LIVENDIRECT" Summer Tour 2008 was proven to be the "best SUmmer tour ever!". comprised of 70+ shows in 120! days...solo ...he has performed at colleges, festival, lounges, restuarants and cafes spanning 5+ states, while releasing his 4th cd, (but debut cd on FSE/RJZ Music)..."BREATHE...(vol1) has sold well with fans and friends.  Eagerly awaiting the next installement on FSE/RJZ Music ...BREATHE...(vol.1).  his recent session work with such major labels as MURDER INC., SONY, KOCH and several other inide labels has increased demand for his "sonic painting" guitar(and bass) licks. His guitar can be  heard on the JAY-Z "BLACK" cd, the JIM JOMES, (cd&mixtape), DIPSET (latest release), and currently on the offshoot of these KOCH artist, BYRDGANG..on the "Hop Out Boys" track with is currently getting major radio airplay. Currently in the studio working on the new cd, he continues to do performances at select venues throughout the holiday season and to wrap up the year.  Havng added his "Jimi Hendrix Tribute" show back into his repetoire, has also excited  fans and audiences.  Although he has been recently performing all original music..."rebeljazz"..along with rock, bossa, reggae, acid jaz and more..fans arealways astonished with he does his rock performances..invoking a Hendrixlike spirit even to his own rock originals.

Bursting onto today's new music scene and armed with new sights and sounds is a performer whose time has come!  Fredrix Clark, composer, guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist is also a talented songwriter of many multi flavoured dimensions.

  Originally a trumpet player in his junior high school band, he switched to saxophone, at the urging of his parents, believing that a reed instrument would be a little more tolerable sound wise due to his constant non-stop late night rehearsing. On the other hand Fredrix comes from a musical family,  the 4^th in 7^th children,   his mother a professional self taught gospel singer/ piano player,  his father an “aspiring” guitarist, his oldest brother a R&B, soul singer, his second oldest brother a devout jazz trumpeter who has performed with such greats as trumpeter Lee Morgan and other jazz greats.  It was this brother who first to turn Fredrix on to the late guitarist Jimi Hendrix.  “I remember my brother saying to me “..hey you've got to hear this..” the album was Hendrix's BAND OF GYPSIES lp.  “so my brother puts it on and says ..Do you hear that bass line?... but all I could say was what's  that going on top..what's that sound?..and he said “oh that's the guitar player” right then I knew ...hey I want to make sounds like that!”  Soon after that he abandoned the brass instruments, and realized that not only was his father's guitar going unused, but that he could also practice into the wee hours of the morning due to the quietness of the guitar, something that he continues even today.  And so began his journey/legacy into learning Hendrix songs, sights and sounds. His early years were spent playing guitar in R&B. dance rock and reggae bands, playing cover music, backing other performers and wowing audiences by playing behind his head, with his teeth, on the floor and between his legs.  Dubbed by critics as a “sonic painter” he formed his 1^st band “Fredrix Clark & The Immigrants” performing all original hard rock, punk, jazz, reggae and psychedelic Hendrix styled songs. It was only after several weeks and several shows until he was courted and signed to record his debut LP, “Fredrix Clark & The Immigrants,  Got No Reasons...To Listen To You” (JSR/FSE1117) on JSR/FSE Records, 11 all original smoking rock tracks with 1 reggae “There's No Sense” hit and one acoustic jazz tune “Love Always, Love”.  Audiences response to the LP were sensational and prompted the national/international release of the single “Asia b/w The Immigrant Rock”(FSE/1117A) which became a huge HINRG hit in the UK and also received massive college radio play here in the US.  This LP also spawned the “GOT NO REASONS” tour which spanned 14 states and included performances in every venue worth playing (and some not) in New York City. There were several small tours with his friends and cohorts, D.C. finest hardcore band, BAD BRAINS and a “noise” band then called Vernon Reid's LIVING COLOUR.

With these accomplishments brewing Fredrix s, sound and showmanship brought him mass notoriety and he soon was in major label recording studios laying down his trademark smouldering guitar tracks for likes of super producer/grammy award winner TEDDY RILEY, PRINCE PAUL and DADDY-O. He started getting known for working with major and indie rap groups, adding that analogue “Hendrixrock” guitar sound to rap tracks, long after RUN DMC made the mixing of rock and rap a staple in the industry.   

With the popularity of rap increasing the Fredrix's skill became more in demand, he was eventually recruited by long time friend Daddy-O (founder of the pioneer live hip hop band STETSASONICS), to play on his Tommy Boy debut, “ON FIRE” (TB1012) The lps hottest track “Rock De La Stet”featured  Fredrix laying down some of the hottest, raw, rock guitar licks to ever grace a rap lp. Daddy-O was one of the first industry insiders to tap into Fredrix's (dubbed DREDDIE STRINGS by Daddy-O) unlimited and diversified potential. 

 On 2^nd vocals and Dreddie on lead/rhythm guitars.  This instantly became a huge underground hit, released in a limited edition single format.

Daddy-O went on become a platinum producer and VP of Black music at Universal/MCA Records once there and in a position to be a shot caller he sought out FREDRIX aka Dreddie for his stable of new artists.  Fredrix went on to records with a series of new and upcoming UNIVERSAL acts like sultry, soul, r&b vocalist, TASHA HOILDAY, the “conscious rapper”  NEWCHILD and several other artists that were recently signed to the label.

FREDRIX, now more seasoned than ever and prospering as a session guitarist in demand, was itching to get back in the studio to do his own tunes.  He went on to record his sophomore cd, a solo EP on FSE Records..Fredrix Clark “NO REASONS..II” a crically acclaimed ep concsisting of 4 intense self penned and performed tune ranging from cosmic funk of “Electronic Jungle” to the psychedelic epic “Over The Rainy Cliffs Of Love” (FSE195). This EP not only show cased his guitar playing, but also his unique songwriting/arranging skill.  Fredrix has always refered to cd as a “sonic work of art, something....personal”.

As with notoriety comes success and Fredrix has in  recents years recorded/laid guitar tracks for raps royalty. He's on 1 track on JAY-Z s “BLACK” cd SONY/EPIC/BLACKHAND Entertainment, playing/replcating the “Knight Rider” theme on guitar, on bass and guitar on the new DIPSET/JIM JONES cd/mixtape on KOCH records “HOP OUT BOYS and has just agreed to work with MURDER INC Studios,home of grammy award winners JA RULE and songbird ASHANTI.

As a solo performer Fredrix has just finished his 4^th Summer tour...BELIEVE...Summer tour 2007.  Known for his amazing NON STOP 3 hour shows, with no breaks, he continues to perform weekly throughout the year and has performed as many as 65 shows in 90 days when he tours every Summer.

 2008 promises to be his most productive year to date, with the release of his new DVD “FREDRIX..LIVENDIRECT at the MICRO- MUSEUM, Brooklyn, New York, The Indigo Sessions. It is his first MULTI MEDIA DVD complete with sights and sounds NEVER SEEN before. The DVD includes 4 original compositions, the title track from the upcoming, long awaited cd “BREATHE” the outer worldly “Tides Of Illusion”, and the Micro Museum dedication “4U” and last but rocking not least the live version of the myspace hit “HEY U”. His new FSE/Rebeljazz Record label is also releasing a singer/ songwriter cd, a poetry book and possibly a reggae cd.  With film/tv scores on the agenda and his new MURDER INC collaboration, his live shows and Summer tour in the works, look for 2008 to be as FREDRIX puts it..... “LIVENDIRECT!!!!!!!
