“The Five and Dimers bills itself as an "Americana" band, and if there's little arguing with that description, it's a little misleading — but in all the right ways. Directed by baritone singer and songwriter Matt Taul and propelled by fiddler Matt McGibany and guitarist Pete Klein, the band has all the classic twang elements, flush with banjo riffs and shuffles, and its debt to hard-shell acts like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Steve Earle (before he took a hard left turn) is palpable. Stone-cold country songs like "The Whiskey Talking," "Restless Angel" and "Ten Miles to Tulsa" — all from the band's reliably tuneful 2011 release Quarter of a Tank — sound tailor-made for a sawdust-strewn dance floor, where the twin fiddles and close harmonies sing you all the way back home.”

“If I had a porch the five and dimers would be the band playing there. They play on their debut cd a very fine sort of Americana, very entertaining, with lots of country and folk elements. Most of the songs are mid-tempo except for 3 ballads(Quarter of a Tank, Restless Angel and Drunken Smile) with great lapsteel playing from Pete Klein. Also the fiddling of Matt McGibany is very impressive. Other members of the band are Matt Taul on vocals and rhythm guitar, Adam Peipert on banjo, John Masinelli on bass and Jeff Walker on drums.
