The Institute of American Indian Arts will host an outdoor music festival. The event is a student organized event in which the community is invited to attend. Several Native American performing artists and bands have been invited to attend, representing a diverse cross-section of musical genres. This is a free all-ages event open to the community. The event will be held at the IAIA Dance Circle. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs and to bring jackets. The Institute of American Indian Arts is an Alcohol and drug free campus. Scotti Clifford has performed across the U.S. and Canada as a Vocalist, Back-up Vocalist, Bass-Player, Drummer, and Guitarist. But now the Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist fronts the duo with Bassist/Rhythm Guitarist/ Backup Vocalist Juliana Brown Eyes-Clifford. Scatter Their Own, lyrically, pays tribute to the concepts and philosophy of their Lakota culture while fusing Alternative Rock and Blues into what they would like to call Alter-Native Rock and Roll. In 2009, The Plateros won the award for Best Blues Recording at the New Mexico Music Awards. Saving Damsels, Indigenous souls rock-Albuquerque, NMSaving Damsels got its start in Spring 2007 when lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist J.J. Otero (Navajo/Hopi) strapped a guitar across his chest and put to music his lonesome story of having done a good woman wrong and broken up a home. Accompanied with other introspection and more songwriting, Otero soon had a collection of “earnest, honest, and original” songs and set about collecting a band.
