Benefit for Barbara http://www.facebook.com/events/235074613300040/ Benefit for Barbara Sims Rodriguez Hello Friends, A group of Marshall Alums are banning together in support of Barbara Sims Rodriguez. Barbara sustained a tragic car accident 4 mos. ago, which left her in critical condition with a fractured left hip, leg and pelvis, and severely fractured right ankle among other bone injuries. She is a tough woman who is determined to not let this crisis conquer her. A tireless single mother of four to Jimmy, Aly, Katie and Eddie who is usually on the receiving end of emergencies as a 911 dispatcher, became victim to a freak accident that has left her in a wheelchair, at this time. There will be several months before she can start physical therapy to regain strength in her legs again. We are hosting a Benefit Concert in response to the urgency of Barbara's affairs and asking all of you to join us in helping "Our Friend Barbara" Saturday, May 11th at 9:00 PM at Mr.T's Bowl, 5621 1/2 Figueroa, Highland Park, CA 90042. This is a CASH ONLY EVENT. Admission is $15/person, $20 includes a raffle ticket and will be available for purchase at-the-door. Raffle tickets can be purchased now and will be available throughout the event. Please also note bar is cash only. JMHS buddies, Gaby Torres, Rosemary Isham, Veronica Scarpelli, Heidi Lee Hankins & Christine Okinaga are helping to coordinate a raffle & silent auction to be held during the event. All proceeds received will go into a fund to help Barbara and her family. So far, various themed baskets and auction items have been donated by Kim Cranz, Rachelle Contrarras, Veronica Scarpelli, Chef Francis Mori of Twenty-Six Beach, Certified Golf Instructor, Greg O'Kane, Artist, Rod Serranzana and others. Checks will be accepted for auction items. Who’s playing? The Immortals, The Buckhenries, Cover Story News along with Al Menchaca of Liquorsick, comedian, Victor Vasquez will MC the evening. Many have asked how they can help…. one example, her co-workers have been supportive by contributing some of their own time to Barbara, so she can continue to rehabilitate away from the demands of work. I know in connecting with all of you here now, that other wonderful ideas will continue to flow in. Contact us if you think you’d be interested in donating a service or auction item. You’ll be helping out a loyal friend who is in immediate need now, one who is dedicated, usually at the receiving end during the most critical of times, trained in emergency readiness always available to lend her sensitive ear, heart and time to all those in need who call her at work. Please help us get her back on her feet! She has always been modest; doing her thing giving more than ever expected… at the very least, help us make her journey back to recovery a less painful and stressful one. If you cannot attend and want to make a donation, a webpage has been set up to collect contributions at: http://www.gofundme.com/OurFriendBarbara Please remember it will be cash only upon entry, raffle tickets and bar on May 11th. Thank you all for being supportive and kind, we all look forward to seeing you on May 11th, 9pm @ Mr. T's Bowl.
