The Commanderrs / Press

“Music on the Porch: The Commanderrs March 24 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Durham natives Sally South Derr and Isaac Derr describe themselves as “two young songwriters with nothin’ better to do” (credit to Steve Miller). This brother-sister duo recorded their two albums, the 2014 release Set Sail and the 2015 release Where Nobody Knows Me, at the Rubber Room Studio in Chapel Hill. The Commanderrs finished their second album, featuring songs written by Isaac, despite the slight distraction of Sally flying to Hollywood to audition for American Idol. You can listen, like, share, or buy their songs on ReverbNation and Bandcamp. This event is free and open to the public. Bring a picnic blanket and stay for a while!”

“The Commanderrs are a brother/sister duo. Sarah Derr's beautiful vocals are accompanied by Isaac Derr on guitar. We are looking forward to this evening. Sarah Derr's voice really is that beautiful.”

“Five seconds in and I knew I'd like this song. I'd give it a 20 if I could. The voice of the vocalist is perfect for the lyrics and story of this song. The fiddle and banjo that tinkle throughout the song are made for this piece, and the guitars "cry" when they should. If all I can give it is a ten, so be it.”

Crowd Review of The Green Room

“The Commanderrs are a duo with great likeability and strong song writing abilities. Their creative and classic style connects with the audience and reminds you of what music is supposed to be like.”

Julie Collins - Carrboro Vocal Showcase 2014

“The vocalist has a very pretty voice. The melody of the lyrics goes very well with the instrumentals. This song definitely has potential to become popular to those who like country. It has all the elements that go into a well received country song, and the sound is nice to even those who don't like country because of the band's clear talent with their respective instruments.”

Crowd Review of Watchin' The Sunset

“The artist singing the lyrics, continues to sound amazing throughout the whole entire song, and it makes you not want to turn off the song, I could hear this being a very popular song on the radio, in karaoke bars, and just period! I would buy her CD, not just for this particular song, but for her voice period, a great way to see what ranger her voice could go and how far she could take it! I also love how the producer is not afraid to allow the music to also showcase throughout the song, and not have the artist constantly sing. This is a hit, she is a hit, CD? I would buy it, download it or whatever!! There is nothing I would change about this song! I absolutely fell in love with how professional this song sounds, and how effortless they made it seem.”

Crowd Review of Watchin' The Sunset

“What a beautiful voice! Wow, I can imagine the singers voice on the radio already. The lyrics are well-written and beautiful as well. Beautiful voice, great lyrics, and simple music are a great combination. I could see this song being a hit in its niche”
