Background Bio Information:

Bruce David Loeffert is the songwriter/singer/guitarist for The Bruce of Windsor Project. He was born and raised in Brooklyn ,NY. As a young teenager Bruce played at high school dances, college concerts and  his bands were often in what was called "Battle of the Bands".  At the age of 19, Bruce left home to travel on the road with a show group. From that point on he went in and out of different bands living in a suitcase. The bands were doing one night stands as well as two weeks to two months at different resort hotels. Bruce traveled on the road as a musician in numerous bands for many years. The bands performed all over the USA, Canada, and the US Virgin Islands. After a number of years he decided he would go back to New York to record an album and hopefully go on tour with an all original group. While playing in local groups in the New York tri-state area,  Bruce started the recording process of  5 songs he had written. After recording those songs he started to shop the songs around to record companies. He got some positive feedback on the songs but had problems keeping the musicians together to work on more songs to compile an album. Frustrated by the situation he just continued on playing in different bands as he worked performing cover tunes at concerts, at resort hotels, nightclubs, private affairs, and he  also recorded some original music.

Then due to family matters that needed to be attended to he left the music business in the end of 1999. Many of his friends and fellow musicians could not understand how he could walk away from the biz but accepted his decision. In the course of those 6 years Bruce attended to the needs of his terminally ill parents, who have since both passed away. In Sept. 2006 Bruce along with several musician friends went to see his all-time favorite guitarist Jeff Beck at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ on a Monday night and then again at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, NY on Tuesday the following night. Bruce was so inspired by Jeff Beck's mastery of the guitar,  as he watched every note Jeff Beck played those nights. After those concerts he started playing again. It was like a circuit breaker went on inside his head. He practiced feverishly as if obsessed by the need to express himself once again musically. Then in January 2007 as  in mythology the phoenix rose from the fire and he began to write new songs. By March he had written 10 new songs and decided to revise 5 songs he had previously recorded. Bruce then proceeded to record them all  in his home studio in preparation for his album / cd called "Last of Windsor".

In early spring 2007 Bruce contacted several long-time friends of his with whom he had worked with over the years in various bands. To his delight and amazement all of his friends that he met with were overjoyed with his return to the music business and offered to play on all the tracks he wanted them to do. This was unexpected as he thought that these friends being full time musicians would have limited time. He thought that maybe each would play on 3 or 4 songs and that would be it. It was truly amazing that his friends offered to work on the tunes and get the project done as they all liked the songs.

The whole recording process of the songs began back in April 2007 at Blokhed Recording Studios in Deer Park, NY. The Studio engineer Tom Stiegler and Bruce hit it off the first time they met. Tom really liked the tunes and even offered to play drums on the songs. At that time though Bruce had offered his long time friend Louie Vecchio the opportunity to do the songs on the project.

Kenny Hendricks the keyboard player had been friends with Bruce for years and he really liked the music. Kenny felt it was a great opportunity to express his inner feelings and do something original versus his normal cover club dates. Kenny signed on and wanted to help him complete the project.  Bruce was elated to have him.

Another long time friend with whom Bruce played with in several different bands was Charlie Interrante the bass player. Charlie and Bruce always got along well and had a lot of good times together. Charlie despite working with three different bands offered to do the project and told him that he would walk a tightrope over fire for Bruce as he was so happy to see Bruce getting back into playing again. Charlie like the others knew Bruce went through some real tough times. Charlie knew this project would be great as he really liked the music.

The project  was going well until Louie the drummer had some problems which almost derailed the project. All of us have these type situations in our lives that hamper our ability to follow through on our plans. Having dealt with family affairs that drained Bruce beyond belief. Bruce understood the situation at hand. From there Bruce had to make alternate plans. That is when Tom Stiegler stepped up and finished the drum parts on the last 10 of the 15 songs. The project stayed on track and the goal Bruce had set to record the rhythm section parts to all 15 songs was achieved by the end of August.

In Sept 2007 Bruce focused on getting the two percussion players he had chosen to play on the project to record their parts. Tom Grosso and Ed Ranieri were new friends Bruce had met and decided to use on the project. Tom Grosso had recommended a trumpet player and sax player to use on 4 of the songs. Bruce was interested in doing so even though he really wanted his old friend Sal Sax Sammartano to play on the cd. Unfortunately Bruce was unable to reach Sal as he changed his phone number and moved. In the middle of Sept. the horn players who were recommended by Tom Grosso pulled out of the project. That is when Charlie Interrante told Bruce that Sal was living in the Hampton Bays and that he could get a hold of him. When Bruce contacted Sal it was a great reunion as they had not seen each other since the early 1990s. Sal immediately signed on and in Oct. recorded his saxophone parts on 4 songs which were the final recording sessions. .

George Sullivan who played the harmonica parts on Captain Crackerjack did so at the end of August a week before he was scheduled to go in to the hospital for surgery. George did a great job and I am grateful that he was able to be a part of this project. His surgery procedures went well and thank God he is back in the game.

Pam Dixon was introduced to Bruce by Tom Stiegler and she did a fantastic job on the background vocals and harmonies. Pam's vocals added another dimension to the project and her voice truly complimented the entire recording project.
