“Carmone cites influences including Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Luther Allison, Albert Collins and the band Earth, Wind and Fire. He worked all across the U.S., in New York, Florida, New Orleans, Texas and Alabama. After a gig in San Francisco, a friend invited him to come to Portland and see how he liked it. Carmona says he is impressed by the natural beauty of this area, and the "nicest people," He wishes to personally thank musicians Dk Steward, Robbie Laws, Jim Mesi for the help they have provided. (In relating this, he does a great Jim Mesi imitation.) Carmone now owns a home here where he and his wife enjoy the Portland area as a good place to raise their child. He flies to other areas to open for regional and (soon) national acts, but returns gladly to his home in Portland.”

“Guitarist/composer Brian Carmone, while preparing to host his upbeat, multi-genre jam session at the 45th Street Grill & Pub, reviews the path that brought him to this day. Even though his mother and her family were immersed and involved in music (especially Latin music), Brian initially pursued a career as a chef. He had always thought he would play guitar, but bowed to his family's hopes for him to have a more stable position in the job market. He worked as a chef in New York and other east coast areas, and was successful; but the vocation of music called him to pick up the guitar anyway. Brian Carmon has the enviable ability to make everyone else feel like a celebrity. He greets everyone with a handshake or a hug, clear and present eye contact and a measure of his understated effervescence. This sets the tone for the evening, whether it is a jam session, a private party, or a nightclub dance gig. His band is available as a power trio, but adds players for larger performances.”
