Tickets £4 adv / £6 on the door 7.30pm | 18+ Roobic www.facebook.com/roobicband Smooth bass lines, intricate drumming mixed with melodic guitar and hypnotic vocals make up the new 5 man band, Roobic. Fusion, rock and blues are only 3 small words that can't even begin to describe this big band. Blakk Reaction www.facebook.com/TheBlakkReaction The Blakk Reaction formed at the back end of 2011 following the demise of bands 'Fiori' and 'Strays'. Band members disappeared faster than Rebekah Brooks' e-mails as songwriters Dave and Arthur sought a darker, more primitive sound. The duo, citing The Stooges and Prince as influences, create a monolithic barrage that bands with twice as many members would struggle to match. We Are Sons www.facebook.com/wearesonsband We Are Sons take us back to a day when music was real, lyrics were meaningful and live performances left you slightly wounded both physically and emotionally.

THE BLAKK REACTION live at The Workshop 16/05/13 2 mins From Old St Tube Station "The Workshop is a little gem of a discovery underneath the Roadtrip Bar on Old Street. It has an underground hacienda feel and provides a perfect space for intimate showcases and gigs. Owned by the same people who own the Underbelly, it’s a new fresh and free hangout for cutting-edge British record labels, artists and musicians. Its relaxed Rock 'n’ Roll bar, cocktail feel gives it a great vibe to watch some live music, catch your favourite DJ, pick a tune from the juke box or just chill out on their huge south facing terrace. This a great place to people watch or meet your mates as they enter or leave Shoreditch and see some of the best bands in London"

Q: Who are your favourite unsigned bands? How do you work the vocals in the songs you do?
A: Good question, anonymous...we can only really talk about the bands that we've seen live or shared a stage with; but Roobic are a great live act, and the Voodoo Binmen are interesting in the sense that they do something similar to us but different. Aside from that, we love The Velvetines and some great Coventry/Midlands bands too, like Symphony State, Only Shadows and Drop Down Smiling. We never go into writing a song with any preconception of how the vocals will be, we just prefer to work it out between us in a fairly natural way, and just keep trying different things until we find something that sits comfortably. Usually we just go with our gut:-)
