“The Gate was the venue to be last Friday, Oct. 14. A great mix of talent at the venue's local indie show included newcomers, The Black Sundays (As well as other really cool local bands). I saw The Black Sundays once at Bakotopia Unplugged (open mic where bands are allowed to perform short sets at Fishlips Restaurant on Wednesdays). Let me just say The Black Sundays are making great music. The three-piece group has an eclectic mix of folk and rock. Their set at The Gate was only thirty-five minutes long, but they provided the audience with a great set of groovin' tunes including my personal favorite, "Hit the Ground Running," an upbeat vocal arrangement reminding me of David Gray. They also performed "Freeway." It's a slower song with lyrics that had me hooked. Another song they performed had hints of bluegrass. All in all, I am eager to hear more from this group. In fact, coming up in the next week or so I will be featuring them in an exclusive interview so look for it! ”
