Bio

JS aka The Best is a music producer/Mastering Engineer/MC/Manager/Mixing Engineer from Landover Hills, Maryland. Despite having a rough childhood JS has found an escape through music. This 16 year old producer has an undeniable style that he likes to describe as “The Platinum Era”. The Platinum Era is simply based on the Golden Era of Hip Hop but reviving it into to his own style. He has done work for many artist including Busta Rhymes, Rakim, KRS-One, and the late Notorious B.I.G. His smooth as silk basslines, raw dirty drums + crazy drum patterns, intoxicating samples have drawn many to this young talented teen.

At the age of 10, was when he figured out what was soon was to be his trademark name. One day JS and his friends were getting there own nicknames and JS at the time didn’t have one. So a couple days later he looks at his lunchbox at it says “JS” which are his initials. So around 4 months later his teacher makes the class do poetry but JS wanted to be different and write a rap, so he did. His 1st line was “JS is the Best”. It was then where his elementary school teacher out of all people taught him the structure of constructing a song. It remains unknown when JS incorporated the “aka The Best” part to his name. As of March 5th, 2007 JS replaced the a in “Tha” with an e creating JS aka The Best. He says the reason that is because “it was a personal situation and it also had to do with business”.

Also at the age of 10, JS started playing in his school symphonic band as a percussionist (Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Xylophone anything you hit, beat, or shake). He started when the school year was ¾ completed but the band director let him join anyway. JS had the desire to be the best percussionist so he practiced over 6 hours a day. This lead up to his band director, one day making a speech about this young man and how devoted and talented he was. That speech led JS to compete in numerous Solo’s and Ensemble’s and winning 1st place. He is one of the best percussionist in the US. He also helped his school win several state awards. If it wasn’t for his and director he wouldn’t be where he is today.

JS first started out as rapper and he had a unique intoxicating flow. His use of multi syllable words was brilliant especially at his young age. He used to record with many rap groups also including one with his former classmate which has influenced his production. That Duo had changed him. At the time all JS had was his Ipod, a recorder that came with it, a Playstation 2, and a game called MTV Generator 2. This is where he made his first productions as an artist and producer. They recorded many songs on that Ipod which were on there 1st cd. As JS says “I have improved so much since then but as far as producing I feel as if back then I made some of my best beats on that thing [Laughs].I still have the recordings too in my archives. But since then my view towards Hip Hop has changed, back then I used to look up to people like Ludacris, Timbaland, and others but now I look up to Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Pete Rock and Primo. I just did so much research on these artist and they really have changed my thoughts toward Hip Hop”. On July 3, 2006, JS had become less focused on sports, rapping, and other things to focus on his Producing Career.

He is currently working with artist across the US and overseas while still promoting himself, going to shows, looking for Emcees, and other talented Producers. On August 4, 2008, JS was named the Champion of the Futureproducers.com Final Four Beat Battle. He has been working on his album in which all production will be done by JS and he will be the only MC on the album. It will include unreleased songs of him with other producers and artist he has collaborated with, and also some of his first recordings in 2004. He has also worked with Young Chris from the Young Gunz/Roc-a-Fella on a song titled “Bounce 101”. Now JS is focusing on landing major placements while still maintaining his love for music
