Bio

Ten Toes Up is a funk-infused rock quartet from Murrells Inlet SC. "A jazzy mix of Allman/ Panic-style southern rock..." says the Charleston City Paper. High energy live shows keep fans dancing. With a nod to the rock bands of old, Ten Toes Up incorporates the funk of the 70's mixed with the blue-eyed blues of the Allman Brothers. The instrumentation is percussion heavy with a dual-drumming rhythm section led by bass and guitar.

About

Music is a feeling. You can't steal it, you can't fake it, and you definitely can't replace it. Ten Toes Up's music is an extension of their personal take on what music should feel like. It should be rock and roll first and foremost. It should make you move the second you hear it or move you the instant you understand the lyrics. It should relate. It should be tight. It should be understandable. It should transcend you away from whatever other weight is pressing you at that moment. That is why it is important.

Ten Toes Up's sound has always been described as unique. Their are only 10 strings in the band and the rest of the sound is percussive. Drums are primal (man's first instrument) and so the initial reaction is movement. Once the movement is established the words tell you a story if you choose to listen; some are satisfiied with the words framing the beat, which is perfectly alright. Togther they paint you a picture. Live shows are fueled by energy. Who would believe someone if they told you a story with no emotion?

The instrument list utilized in a live show is lengthy but they are all tools with different emotions:

acoustic guitar, electric guitars, lap steel, weissenborn, bass, drums, harmonica, timbales, congas, woodblocks, cajone, shakers, bottles, etc

It all translates to a band trying to make music they enjoy. It seems to be working and many who hear it are riding right along with us.
