Telenn Gwad started back in 1995 in Moscow, Russia. The name of the ensemble was inspired by a song of Alain Stivell who was a huge influence on their music. The roots of Telenn Gwad go back to ancient Breton and baroque music as well as Irish traditional folklore. Described by the musicians themselves as 'music of the spheres' Telenn Gwad live shows are otherworldly and hypnotizing experiences. The ensemble is fronted by Oleg Boiko, a master of ancient instrumens, an archlute, a renaissance lute, baroque guitar and celtic harp. Being a very versatile musician Oleg is also a leader of a 4-piece chamber ensemble and a rock band Mother's Little Helpers. Pavel Markelov's alter ego is of a bell-ringer. Working in a Russian orthodox monastery, he is an author of several grandiose symphonies written solely for church bells. During their career Telenn Gwad recorded two full length albums and featured in several compilations of celtic music.
