Q: When did you first pick up a guitar?

A: It was back in 1975. My dad was pissed at me and hadn't really talked to me for a couple months because I had quit playing football and I had told him I wanted to play guitar. On my birthday though he bought me a Fender F150 acoustic guitar. I took like 5 or 6 lessons and after 6 months was playing standard chords pretty good and had learned a bunch of country and 60/70's rock stuff and was jamming with a couple guys I had met while walking down there street. A drummer (Dave) and lead guitar player (Darrel) were in Darrel's garage goofing around. I hung out and played a couple songs and our band was formed. For my next birthday my dad got me a 1975 Gibson L6S electric guitar and a Fender quad reverb amp. And we started to play in the bars around Warren/Youngstown Ohio area. Country Rock. I was 16. Because I was doing the singing I stayed with rhythm guitar and never really learned to play lead, which is on my bucket list.
